    Having trouble getting windower to work on lolvista

    So I go to windower forums of course and ask about this problem and I get no replies so now I come here.

    Heres my post from windower forums
    "I downloaded the vista POL viewer and downloaded windower and followed all the steps in this topic
    http://www.windower.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8818
    but when it goes from POL to the game itself, it crashes instantly every time.

    Edit: Windower Lite works, so I'll use that for the time being. "

    Anyone know what my problem is?

    you probably need to disable secure desktop for plugins to load error free. (secure desktop is a subcomponent of access control) if you already disabled access control then I'm not sure.

    was everything set to run in admin mode? (windower.exe, playonline.exe etc) and did you launch via windower itself and not the gui launcher for windower?

    make sure all the plugins are up to date

    crashing like that is what usaly happebns wiyth a broken plugin

    and since windower lite is basicly the same without plugins thats prolly what it is

    iam on vista and have never had a problem getting FFXI+windwer to work just a matter of keeping it up to date same with if u where using it on XP

    I seriously laugh at everyone who immediately blames the UAC. Right-Click and make sure the launcher is running as administrator and every plugin is up to date and you're fine. Vista really isn't that bad of an OS if you have a decent machine and learn what to do. >_>;

    edit: Also, if it's 64b Vista you'll need the correct launcher from the windower.net forums.

    well right; but plugins in particular do not interact nice with UAC's secure desktop feature (most directX programs don't actually) - and secure desktop is one of the less necessary subfeatures.

    the newest windower launcher supports 32 and 64 bit OS's. at least i did not need a new launcher for my fresh install of vista 64

    Here we are a week later, and this shit is crashing again. I've tried with 0 plug-ins on autoload and it still crashes immediately going from POL to Game. The weird part is if I hit play and then toggle to another window it starts fine, but crashes as soon as I go back to the windower window. Anyone know whats going on here?

    Easy fix

    Device Manager ->
    Universal Serial Bus Controller->
    Disable eHome Infrared Receiver.

    This helped me.

    Edit: You should be able to use regular windower, as I was having the same exact problem, and i just did the above step to make it work.

    Having a problem trying to get this to work as well.

    Got a new PC few months back with vista, just now I installed the new windower. So I open gui_launcher and every time when I get to last "Play" option on POL, I click it, it opens the next screen but blank and immediatly crashes.

    Things I have tried:
    Checking the X in properties to enable XP service pack
    Tried to disable both my virus scan programs from doing anything auto
    Tried it on all different resolutions and Run as administrater
    Disabled the UAC

    How do I check if all the plugins are up to date?

    Should I try to uninstall/reinstall POL vista version and/or windower program?

    Anything else I should try?

    Why not?

    I tried both launchers anyway and still same crash. But I mean my goal is to open 2 ffxi accounts at once so I need both to work?

    the gui launcher is incompatible with vista last I checked; windower should be started by running 'launcher.exe' which will need admin permissions (obv)

    Nah my friend tells me he uses guilauncher on vista all the time.

    As for the administrater thing, all I have tried with that is right clicking on it to open and click "Run as administrater" there. Is there ooprion somewhere else to make everything in ur comp run this way?
