Corsair Despair

This is the first time I got reprimanded upside down in a merit PT as Corsair... The setup was good, the leader got War War Sam Rdm Cor Brd, and we could clear out the middle bird camp very efficiently, once the Brd had to pull a wivre cause we ran out of mobs. But this Warrior here really irritated me to the extreme, kept wanting Fighter's Roll + Chaos Roll, instead of the recommended Chaos Roll + Corsair's Roll.

I could get good info from this thread, and from experience as well, regarding importance of Corsair's Roll:

I'm fairly competent with exp calculation, but obviously as he had stated, he knows a lot more about rolls and I am just arrogant not to give him the rolls he wants. /angry

Merit PT experts please give advice. Should I give way and change rolls just to keep the harmony. Or should someone give him a wake up call how Corsair's Rolls work in Merit PTs.

Tell him to parse exp/hour rather than eyeballing exp/kill.

Edit: If you're clearing middle bird camp and leaving no mobs cor roll is obviously better, you'll be killing the same mobs in the same time and getting more exp/hour.

I used Cor/Chaos/Evoker's from 52 onwards. I had a few complaints, but they quickly shut up after getting 300+ without an exp band on. I'm suprised you sat there and took that shit from that retard to be honest.

I'm going to sound like a bastard saying this, but if I merit on rdm and its brd/cor and not brd/brd, I specifically ask for evokers and corsair rolls. Not like you do anything other than haste and cure bot anyways.

I usually throw Corsairs roll on me and the mages because you know, usually we are ripping through shit so fast that is doesn't matter.

Just curious.. Why were you doing Chaos/Corsairs instead of Fighters/Corsairs? There was no Drk in the party. Maybe if you had a couple Ridills and a Soboro I suppose, but still.

Not that he isn't a complete idiot, but I tell people how they're going to play their jobs on a regular basis. Then again, I'm always the party leader, always the Bard, and always actually right.

I generally start by asking nicely, and clearly explaining why what I'm suggesting they do is the superior course of action. After they, of course, don't listen, I give them the 'ol "do it or leave" ultimatum. Works wonderfully.

chaos roll still gives decent attack bonus near to a minuet even w/o a drk

and if you have AF2 head, you have a chance of a drk present chaos roll effect even w/o drk

however with war in pt, fighters roll may be good or better too lol

anyway back to corsair roll

since me and friend kill a mamool doing catas > mercy stroke, that additional damage roll doesnt matter

What query I would make:

Assuming you aren't clearing the mobs in the area (say at lower levels, etc), does another roll (such as Fighter's Roll in this case, or even Sam roll) outweigh Cor?

I macro AF2 Head when doing Chaos/Evokers. With War in PT, the bonus of Fighter's Roll is 7% - 24% chance of proc. Without Drk in PT, the attack bonus of Chaos Roll is 3% - 31% increase in attack.

I guess it's a matter of preference but I think a direct increase in damage seems stronger to me than an increased chance to DA, per swing. Of course, if PT wanted Fighter's Roll + Corsair's Roll, its definitely ok with me.

Was this guy the party leader? When meriting on BRD, I usually ask the leader what songs they want before we start, and we work it out so that everyone's happy.

If a party member starts sending me tells requesting other songs once we've started killing and I'm pulling, I refer them to the party leader. If they persist, they get kicked for disruption.
