Fuck that shit, I want KH2:FM+
They can give us KH:RE free with that.
Because we already got KH2, and Re:COM is a complete overhaul and remake of the GBA version that many people never played.
Also, they came together, so they weren't "getting it for free," they were paying whatever they payed for the 2 games that came with it. (Although I think you were kinda joking about that, and I do see your point, and I also would like to get the FM version, I'm just stating the obvious of why they did what they did)
Why would they translate and redub KH:RE and release it without doing so to FM+? All it would take is translation, they used the American VAs for FM+ so they don't have to redub shit. The new cut scenes were just text, something an amatuer fansubber could do. It's cheaper overall and if they were going to do all that work for RE why not put in even less time and energy into doing FM+? It's illogical to do RE and not FM+.
The fact is, they're ripping off US audiences by selling just RE when JP audiences got two for the price of one. If you think that's worthwhile or justified then you're crazy. If you think getting RE is worth more than FM+ you're also crazy. I wasn't joking about the "getting it for free" line. It's what it is. It doesn't help that the title of the game was Called Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+ and just so happened to come with KH RE:CoM.
I dunno about you, that seems like a freebie to me.
Even if you wanted to argue that it isn't, it still can depend on perspective. I'd buy KH2:FM+ for the updated version of KH2 and would consider KH:RE to be a freebie. Someone else might feel that RE was the game worth buying and FM+ was the freebie (lol). Others might consider both at purchase.
Afaik it doesn't even have any new content over the GBA version, does it? Definately won't be getting this, would have bought Final Mix in a heartbeat though. Stupid move Square.
I think they changed the battle system a bit, adding reaction commands into the mix like in KH2. Along with VA and 3D graphics (the VA, which is only there during certain cut scenes between world floors and in the last few areas), there are a few new cut scenes I think and a new fight.
My problem with selling RE:CoM is that the game isn't original enough nor long enough to justify a single purchase for it. A good portion of the game is spent reliving KH1, which is so boring. It only becomes worth while during the hallway sections and the last few areas.
Definitely doesn't have an edge on the content added in FM+, especially considering that you could have gotten RE:CoM with it.
I've yet to even get halfway through KH2FM, and I beat Re:COM fully. I also never played the original GBA one, so it was good for me because it helped link KH1 and KH2. (I played a bit, then I would read a GBA script I found on gamefaqs to figure out what was going on)
I'd definitely say Re:COM is worth it, especially if you haven't played the original GBA one. They basically turned the crappy GBA game into a PS2 game, and the fighting is a lot similar to a regular KH game and flows the same way.
To the NA audience, Re:COM is a new experience for most people, while KH2FM is just the same game with a few add-ons (which are awesome and totally worthwhile imo, but that's not how they see it apparently.) Therefore, they provide the "new" content, and don't bother with the "old" content. Cheaper to just release 1 DVD than 2? idk
I don't exactly agree with their rational, but I do understand where they're coming from.
There was nothing wrong with the GBA one, fun battle system and gameplay and good graphics. And the story on the PS2 is untouched as far as I'm aware. Just sucks for us that have played the GBA one imo, lack of new content in it more than anything, atleast Final Mix adds a load of new fights to KH2. They'd make way more money off it releasing Final Mix instead of Re:CoM. Though I can see them releasing Final Mix a little down the line now too just to rip people off further.
Yeah. I played the GBA version (at first, just to play it, later realizing it was continuing the story) and so my interest in RE:CoM was limited at best. I was never a fan of card based battle systems, it just felt really limited coming from KH and being able to do whatever the hell you wanted.
My problem is them selling RE:CoM seperately instead of with FM+. FM+ may be a few addons, but there is so much new content it's like a completely new game. New abilities, new weapons, new drive form, more boss fights (all organisation etc), added difficulty (face it, Proud Mode was a joke) and new cut scenes.
They basically turned a pretty shallow game into something much better. What they did with RE:CoM is take a basic game and make it prettier.
Most of my replies in this topic come from me being pissed off that they aren't releasing FM+.
Stop complaining heh, I'm actually glad it's hitting the US since I hated playing it in Japanese.
It's a good title, it just sucks that they refuse to port over the Final Mix titles. Then again I don't really mind since I got the gold crown in FM+.
Pirate worthy?
I wouldn't go that far, if you've played the original there's nothing deeper about the game. Doesn't help that the level design is flawed to hell.
Someone needs to call SE and have them release FM+. I've seen Exo's youtube vids a long time ago and god damnit those bosses look fun.
I really liked the GBA one, and it's worth playing if you haven't already. It ties up the events between the two main games, and you also get to see a little bit about what Riku was doing.
It's out, btw.
anyone have it yet?
