So about how long is this read? A good week or so, maybe longer?

In the compiled trade paperback format (ie. one big book) it weighs in at around 300 pages or so and that includes a dozen interstitial diversions like a few pages from Night Owl I's book and Rorschach's criminal psychology report.

You won't find yourself blazing through it like a lot of other comic books though. I went back and re-read quite a few sections and chapters realizing that I had missed some details earlier on as I read through.

Regardless, it's an excellent read and I think it will really help you appreciate the movie a lot more.

My girlfriend has never seen the comic book, she hasn't really read comic books since Betty and Veronica when she was 12.

After sitting there watching the trailer quietly, she says 'We're going to see this in a Theater, definitely. That looks amazing, and I have no idea what it's about.'

Then I explained how it's kind of the book that inspired The Incredibles, with the whole "no more supers" theme... but darker, grittier... the supers are real people, who drink too much, cuss, beat their wives, and bleed.

'Oh fuck, that sounds even more awesome, when is it coming out?'
