I hope something happens to the cop that gave the order to taze him. Either the guy was off his meds, or on some of the bad stuff. There's no way he would have been lucid enough to understand their warnings.

There are these things called hands and feet. They can be used to punch and kick people.

Hands and feet can cause a lot of damage. I don't see anything wrong with tazing, it shouldn't be used ALL the time, but is a lot safer than shooting someone.

They're rather suspect, and are opposed by the UN, Amnesty International and American Civil Liberties Union. There have also been cases of their use as torture devices within jails.

People do realize, that a taser isnt a tool just designed to cause pain to a subject in order to convince him/her to follow orders, right?

The taser is used in law enforcement, to paralyze muscles in the receiver of the shock. Making him/her fall to the ground, and unable to use any force against someone due to wekened/temp. paralyzed muscles from the shock.

We dont use tasers here in MA, but good luck trying to fight with a long time junkie. They yield to feel any pain while high on w/e they are on, so its a Strength vs strength fight.

(correction, 5 small police agencies in MA use tasers.... here in boston, we don't)

No, we don't realize that because we keep seeing videos of police officers tazering people who won't follow orders, even when handcuffed or offering no physically threatening resistance.

We don't realize that because cops use them to cause pain in order to convince a suspect to follow orders far too frequently.

I'm talking about some form of suspension or something pending a full investigation. Shit should be somewhat serious when someone dies due to non-lethal force.

Tasers aren't considered non-lethal force, they are classified as less than lethal force. Or at the very least reclassified as such in lieu of the recent deaths due to taser use.
Supporters of taser use in schools argue that merely switching on the device, and threatening to use it, can be effective in frightening violent or uncooperative students into desisting from inappropriate behaviour, if verbal reprimands have not succeeded. Critics counter that tasers may interact with preexisting medical complications such as medications, and may even contribute to someone's death as a result. Thus, critics say, they should either be prohibited altogether in schools, or classified as possibly lethal weapons and as a consequence, should be regulated very tightly. Critics also argue that using a taser on a minor, and especially a young child, is effectively cruel and abusive punishment, and therefore it should be banned on the same grounds that other, older forms of physical punishment such as canings have been banned from use in many schools. [50] [51] [52] [53] [54]
Their use on children is also being questioned as cruel punishment.

Police officers that patrol schools, including grade schools, in several U.S. states (including Kansas, Minnesota, Kentucky, Virginia and Florida), currently carry tasers. In 2004, the parents of a 6-year old boy in Miami sued the police department for tasering their child. The police said the boy was threatening to injure his own leg with a shard of glass, and claimed that using the taser was the only option to stop the boy from injuring himself. Taser International asserts that the taser is safe for use on anyone weighing 60 pounds (27 kg) or more. Nevertheless, the boy's mother told CNN that the three officers involved might have found it easier to reason with her child. Two weeks later, a 12-year-old girl skipping school was tasered in Miami-Dade.[48] In March 2008, an 11-year old girl was shocked by taser.[49]

People don't report on the good things that happen in Afghanistan, like a soldier giving an Afghani boy a flower, and only the bad ones where a US Predator drops a bomb on 50 people, because people dying is a huge fucking deal.

Care to quantify how many people have been saved by tasers, or are you going to desist on this silly little endeavor?

You know, i'm glad i'm not on the side defending the liberal use of tasers, seeing as how it's analogous to Cheney defending torture because it saves theoretical American lives.
