Looking to buy a console need help choosing

Ok ive been putting off getting a console for over 2 years now mostly cuase of price of PS3 and my hatred for the original xbox.now with a possible price drop to 300 on the ps3 iam looking to buy.But ive gotten over my hating on 360 after buying a 360 controller for my pc to play GTA4 and found i loved the controller layout and trigger buttons.... so now iam torn between the 2

iam leaning towards PS3 right now because of:

1) Blu ray
2) Gran Turismo 5 coming later this year and PS3 exclusive as far as i know
3) MGS4 PS3 exclusive
4) easily able to slap in a 500gb HDD

What id like help with is what good points does it have vs ps3 and what exclusives is the 360 ganna have since iam not really up on the whole 360 scene so anything you can tell me would be appreciated thanks^^

I have both but find myself learning towards the ps3 just a tad more. But the 360 has been pretty good recently with some rpg's here and there. But the ps3 is deff worth the titles you put there. Allso i liked ratchet and clank. Pluse gota love the blue ray player.

If you can only afford one system right now buy the one that has the most games out right now that you want. Not games that are coming out because by the time they come out you might be able to afford the other console anyway so you might as well buy the console with the most games out you can play right away.

Yep, these days you're pretty safe on Live with a modded 360, as long as you don't do dumb things like jump on multiplayer servers before they're officially released etc.

Is MGS4 the only game out you want for the ps3 right now? besides the blueray functionality?

I would make a list for each console and compare them that helps me make decisions.

to clarify, I bought PS3 exclusively for MGS4, beat it on each difficulty and then sold it to a friend

I have always had a tough time justifying buying a console for only one game. I would rather buy a console with many decent games that interest me than a console with only one game that is amazing beyond belief.

Just a value thing I guess. I feel like if I only own one game for a console then I have to fold the cost of the console into the game when assessing if it was a good value for me.

This is very true. There are not many games for the ps3 that interest me maybe a small handful but it also doubles as a bluray player which is very nice.

Had a guy at work going to buy a 399 blue ray player i was like dude get a ps3 theres no reason not too.If your guna spend the money do it right. Hes like well then id have to buy games and still ended up gettin the blue ray it just amazes me why you wouldn't wana save money in the long run.

MGS4 really is the main game i want atm but bigger reason iam ganna go with ps3 is the blu ray player will save me from having to buy a seprit 1 or a blu ray drive for my pc witch admididly is much cheaper then a PS3.But my pc is built for gaming and has tones of fans for cooling so its rather load.So i use a headset witch for gaming and watching a movie by myself is fine but if i have comeny over and wanna watch a movie the load ass pc ganna be a problem.So getting a separit player would be nice.

as for games coming out i want being FFXIII and rapture witch will both be cross platform from what ive read so far and with rapture being on PC as well thats what iam ganna get it for anyway.But GT5 is kind of a big deal for me unless 360 is getting an exclusive on something big iam ganna have to go with PS3(assuming there will be a price drop anyway otherwise 360 here i come lol)

the 360 has some good points to naming being able to play movies off my PC threw it to solve my blu ray problem i have plenty of HD content alrdy on my PC i would have just set it up on the HDTV in the living room and be able to stream HD that waysolving the problem as well.

Tho after looking more into 360 pricing its looking like it will cost more then a PS3 assuming there will be price drop to 300.Seeing as the 200$ 360 has no harddrive so id have to buy 1 sepritly making it more then 300 or paying the 400 for the elite agen being more then the PS3.Where as i alrdy have a 500gb laptop harddrive i think will work with ps3 so I can get the 300$ 1 over the 400 and still have plenty of HDD space for free.

Iam not going to be buying till the price drop assuming there really is 1.So if there isent will i be able to use any old HDD to slap into the 360 to cut the cost a bit if thats what iam stuck doing?

There's a middle of the road Pro system option for the 360 as well, which is $300, and comes with a 60GB HDD. Or, if you for some reason want to buy an Arcade and add a drive, when they released the 60GB systems they also made a 60GB "Live Pack" which has the 60GB HDD and a headset for $100.
So either way, $300 for a complete system.

The PS3 is set up to be able to take regular ol' 2.5" SATA drives though, versus the 360 needing them all packaged up by MS (at least officially, I'm not sure if there's a mod to circumvent that).

As game systems, they're both nice machines. Just depends on which has the games you want, and if you want to play online, which has the online that you want to participate in (or that your friends are on, as the case may be).

I primarily bought my PS3 as a Blu-ray player as well, and it does do a nice job with that, and with regular DVDs. That being said, you can now get players for substantially cheaper than a PS3.
