    Taking over West Ronfaure

It is almost time for the conquest tally and my nation is close to taking over W.Ronfaure. What could be the best thing for me to do to help push my nation into taking this region over? In terms of items turned in, has anyone found an efficient way to gain conquest points here?

    Thanks!~

Isn't it directly tied to the npc sell value of the item? Whatever NPCs for a lot should give the most region points too.

Alternatively you can round up some people from the same nation and do a bones party in KR's tomb. If you do that, possibly consider setting up moghancement: region.

Yeah it's correlated to the NPC sell-back price of the item. My friend, Tymora (who is still obsessing over NPC sale prices as you can see from another recent topic in this section), figured this out a few years ago when he organized two takeovers like this. The aim would be to stock up on items that can be bought from the AH for as close to the NPC sellback price as possible (or lower, of course, if someone hasn't snatched them up to NPC for profit).

That's funny. Since I'm a proud San d'Orian with both Windy and Bastok OPs

Took me over 2M to claim Sarutabaruta starting from scratch. I used mostly elemental staffs.

    fuck yeah bastok!

i've got all OP's done, with the exception of elshimo uplands, which for some reason i just never bothered to grab. i remember bastok getting it pretty regularly when i was on remora for years, really regretting not getting it out of the way back then, 3rd place is the norm on gilgamesh and i don't think i've ever had it available for supply quest since moving

not that it's particularly useful or anything, but it would be nice to have just for the sake of completion

Anything that's high level (high npc sale) but dirt cheap on the AH is usually good. Trash NQs like staves and amemet, trash bcnm drops, etc.

Took me about 4-5m and a combined total of approx 15m or so to take over gustaberg, but that was at the height of inflation and we were just pissing away gil buying from the bastok npcs.

How many staffs are we talking about roughly?

I been wanting to do this ever since I made my hume and I can't find enough people to do it, combined with me working on fri and sat's its almost impossible for me to organize a force and if I do it any sooner it wont last to tally.

So I was thinking about pulling this off solo, how much would it take? I have heard of people trading easily craftable items with synth mats that stack to take it over but unsure how many I would need, any ideas?

You can also do this by leveling in the areas, right? I'd assume, though, you'd have to get a maat's cap worth of xp to do it and then it's a matter of time vs. money.

There should be one week in a year where taking an opponent nation region should be easier : it is iirc during the festival of the sword. Or whichever event caps you to level 1 and send you to bash Armor with a wooden katana (and you get to home point a lot ...).

I remember somebody stating that during this week, their nation almost lost the principal region to Beastmens, so I suppose winning it over is tons easier.

Over a year or 2 ago, but well after the deflation, somebody got either ronfaure, or Saruta for Bastok on Gilgamesh, it cost him around 1.5 million. NQ staffs and cheap AH armor for the win. Well, 1.5 million is not really cheap at the end, and NQ staff are a bit more expensive than what they used to be before (like 30k instead of 10k, depending on suply).

I'm really skeptical about the ability to do this based on XP alone. Astralburning doesn't seem to affect Gustaberg at all. If that much XP isn't making it easier to take over, I don't know what would.

I've participated in 4 rounds of newbie zone take over back in the days, and most of the time we were successful, but I didn't do it alone. I was actually in an Expeditionary Force linkshell, if you could believe it.

All the times it was a core group of around 6-10 people, with maybe another half a dozen chipping in plus an associate JP shell that did the same. We didn't trade any ele staff (because they were still expensive), what we did was bought cheap (but relatively high NPC resale value) armor/weapons; depleted the AH of those. The remaining were synthed; HQ fish broth, stacks of arrows, green ribbons, soil hachimaki, random stuff.

The trick is to keep the influence bar as close as possible, and stockpile mats/gears. Trade at the last possible moment and win the zone.

But then back then we were fighting against opposing nationalistic Bastokan/San d'Orian forces (yeah they had their own linkshells designed for taking over Windy zones/defending their own), so it was a back and forth until the last minute when everyone spam traded their inventory to the NPC and hope they won/didn't lose.

Good times. I spent quite a lot of gil, but I can proudly say that our shell has achieved the ultimate victory of a double newbie zone take-over.

This was all at least 3 years ago, mind you.

Sometimes I wish certain elements of the game weren't so ignored. They could use a revival of the whole "fight for your nation" theme by updating conflict/garrison/expeditionary force/conquest system.

If Campaign could result in one nation actually taking over another nation's default regions, or somehow mix in PvP with the PvE gameplay...!

They can't? Why does every region have all 4 listed?

A core group all from Sandy (coincidence), deliberately making sure to have Signet with the goal of winning the region for Sandy. Didn't move the needle by a noticeable amount. This over the course of several days. But hey, anyone want a dozen aketons? ._.

That's not to say it's impossible to do. Just that my anecdotal experience suggests that even large amounts of XP won't sway the balance. Turning the items in seems far easier than XPing for the win, especially when you consider the pain in the ass involved in getting a dedicated astral party made up of all one nation that isn't Bastok.
