For real this time:
YouTube - MTV's THE STATE finally coming to DVD
why should I care?
Who gives a shit if you care. The State is one of the funniest shows ever. So many hilarious people came from this show.
I waaaaaaaaanna dip my baaaaaaalls in it! OMG, yes!
BluRay as well? I want!
It's about time. I'm sure MTV didn't want to release the rights to the DVD. That's why we don't have seasons 1 and 2 of Sifl n' Olly.
Finally. I've been waiting for this for so long. I love the State and Wet Hot American Summer and the Ten.
Actually, most of the delay in the release of The State on DVD was a licensing issue.
When the show was originally released on MTV, MTV had a licensing deal with the music industry that let it use the popular songs at the time as background/skit music for their original programming. When they tried to do a DVD release, their license didn't extend to that, and the organizations(RIAA I think) holding the licensing rights refused to license for a rate that would make it profitable to release.
This show was fucking awesome.
"I'm Todd, and I'm outta heeeeeeereeee"
That was the coolest dad ever in that sketch.
I said WHY should I care. I am not familair with "The State" and anything MTV is a turnoff.
Then dont fucking post.
If you like Reno 911 then you would like the state.

It's the same licensing hold up that's keeping The Wonder Years off of DVD. I suspect there will be some songs swapped out for generic sound-a-likes on the DVD, but the music wasn't the focal point of the series anyway.
We had the $240. We had to have the pudding. Awww yeah.
if you make a topic about a show, try fucking explaining what it is in the first post rather than assuming we have all heard of it. not all of us can be as cool as you.
Using that logic, there's a ton of threads in Bentertainment Geekly, and also the Gaming Forum for shows, movies, or games that I've never heard of. I don't ask that people explain them before I read them/post in them. Basically this was a ground breaking sketch comedy show from the mid 90's on Mtv, and the cast of The State has gone on to do Reno 911, Wet Hot American Summer, I Love You, Man, Role Models, etc.
Except for Michael Ian Black....he just does the VH1 "Remember when" type shows, bringing us back to our youth (see also: I love the 80's, 90's, Greatest 1 Hit Wonders of the 80's.)
see that right there makes it sound good.
On Hulu.com they just added Stella. Was a 1 season show featuring Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter & David Wain. It also has appearances by other funny people like Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones & others. It's godamn hilarious.
As for The State, here's one of my favorites.
Spaghetti with Bumblebees
That's fucking retarded. I don't read the massive "Bleach" topic because I don't watch "Bleach." Maybe I should go in that thread and say "explain what this show is and why I should watch, why I should care, I want a fucking synopsis, character descriptions and coverage of the major plot."
Threads are made with appropriate titles so people can enter if they want. Why did you open the thread not knowing what the state was, and THEN after not knowing what it was, posting in the thread about it essentially saying "WTF is this and why should I care?" If you don't care, don't post, like other people have said. No one's forcing you to read every single topic.
Dont forget about Viva Variety

And Johnny BlueJeans

I'm 21, although that has nothing to do with this. I clicked because "the State" was vague enough to sound interesting and I wanted to know more about it. I was hoping for some sort of brief synopsis.
