    Lowman Jailer of Hope

    So a friend and I want a hope torque, and were wondering how many people it would take to kill it, also could NIN/Anything tank it well? We were going to try something to the extent of;

    NIN/???
    PLD/NIN
    BRD/WHM
    WHM/SCH

    COR/RDM
    BLM/RDM
    BLM/RDM

NIN can tank it just fine, that setup should work althought it'd be more comfortable if you could include a RDM for slow2/para2 (iirc, it doesn't resist it) which would make Hope even more docile. Just be ready for thundaga3 spam when it does Plasma Charge. I remember the very first time I did Hope was with:

    NIN/DRK
    PLD/NIN
    BRD/WHM
    RDM/WHM
    WHM/SMN (pre-SCH)
    BLM/RDM

    BLM/RDM
    BLM/RDM
    BLM/RDM

It's worth noting that all jailers resist stun 100%, if that's why you brought 2 black mages. Otherwise, melee DD are fairly effective as long as they know to run when they see plasma charge.

I was thinking of doing this in a different setup and having never did this but wanting a torque myself was looking at something like this.

    PLD/NIN
    PLD/NIN
    WHM/BLM (no /sch)
    BRD/WHM
    RDM/BLM

    SAM/THF
    WAR/THF
    THF/NIN
    BRD/WHM *Bouncing BRD*

Would it be better to manaburn or would it be safer to just melee damage it and pull back when need be.

I think he only resists Para. Not slow. I dont really remember but that's what I think.

I would suggest bringing BLM DD just so they dont need to worry about being in or out of AOE range. Bring a THF but if you have a solid tank PT and even 1 BLM you should be able to kill it.

It's been too long since I did a Hope, like 20 months or so. Would it possibly be feasible to do it straight-tanked similarly to Sarameya with SAM tank with a thunder resist build?

Or does he hit too hard? I was always mnk/whm chi-brast whore for it, heh heh

It's slowable and you don't need that much thunder resist to resist it, so I'd say it's feasible. Mighty Strikes and aerial collision would rather hurt on SAM though, but still shouldn't one shot if you're doing it with an overkill amount of healers.

I've done this fight low man a few different ways. The lowest was with 4 people. NIN/WAR, RDM/NIN, WHM, BRD. Straight tank with NIN meleeing for dmg. Barspells and -magic dmg gear when it used plasma charge. Didn't bother with carol as it's spells aren't really that dangerous. Takes awhile but never really any trouble. RDM can tank if something goes wrong.

Also have killed it with a tp burn setup, had 4-5 WARs with double BRD, WHM, RDM and something else (maybe a thf? never drops anyways) in other party. Dies pretty quickly.

What gearset would you recommend for NIN meleeing for damage? Just standard TP gear and macro in -magic for plasma charge or?

Yeah, standard merit party gear, standard -magic dmg taken for plasma (merman's earrings/rings, etc.) Could always swap in -dmg gear for Aerial Collision/Mighty Strikes as well.

When you consider sushi+meat on something like this, you should keep in mind that while meat will give a slightly lower damage increase, it'll also get you less tp given per damage dealt. I'd go with meat personally, wear what you can for acc gear(hauby+1/usu over AF+1, peacock over hope torque though that's mostly a given, etc).

I think a good job, For this is a blu, Head Butt Stuns,

Also I think BLMs > Melee's for this fight else u have an extra whm for Melee's

Melee's can easly get killed and there goes your Dmg decent blms that dnt over nuke, can keep consent Dmg, Also Smns are good for this fight aswell ^^

Does anybody know how much ~hp does JoH have?

Looking to see how well a single KC drk would do.

Yes, necro bump, but I don't see why I should start a new thread on it.
