I completed all the circle of life missions and now there's only one adamantoise that I can kill and takes forever, Long Gui rapes my face hard, and quick strategies to killing it.

if you just need to grind, there's a turtle on Eden, I don't know where since I haven't farmed him yet but apparently he's just by a zone and some soldiers for TP rebuilding (if you're still summoning).
if you just want to kill Long Gui, all I know is abuse SEN/SEN/SEN. I'm still working on my weapons and maxing out the minor roles in the Crystarium so I can't help you there.
oh yeah that's right there is a turtle in eden. thanks for reminding me.
How to kill Long Gui:
Paradigms:
1 each of 3x blah blah. i.e. sen sen sen, med med med, rav rav rav, etc.
1. Enter fight as sen/sen/sen, absorb opening ultima. You should all still be in green.
2. Swap to syn/syn/syn. Get protectra, shellra, and haste on everyone. Stomp will come while you're doing this.
3. Go tri-med to heal up.
4. Go tri-sab. Manually spam slow on the gui itself. Soon as it lands, "auto-hinder" one of the legs, just make sure you hit it once.
5. Go tri-rav, get chain on leg to ~600.
6. Triple com, highwind the leg, then smack other leg once.
7. repeat 5 on other leg
8. Go triple med to heal up, then syn to get fresh bravera/haste on light/fang and faithra/haste on vanille.
9. Make sure you get back to triple com and highwind before the stagger wears off leg.
10. Gui falls. Spam debuffs, make sure you have deprotect, deshell, imperil, and slow, at least.
11. Triple rav to build chain bonus to 999.
12. Triple com, zerg until stagger about to wear, highwind.
13. Rebuff
14. Gui gets up, summon immediately
15. Repeat 10-12, mob should die before it gets up.
16. Kill Shaolongs until you have tp for the next long.
You'll get used to quickly swapping to triple sen for quake/ultima/roar.
So, to simplify:
triple sen for any big hits
keep slow on turtle itself
build chain on legs, highwind to one-shot them
keep yourself fully buffed, and whenever the turtle is down fully debuff it, build chain to 999, and zerg with triple com
It's the same basic strategy as adaman, just have to be prepared for more, bigger hits, and deal with way more hp.
Thank you so much I'll go try it later.
Damn, I can kill Long Gui's but it takes me 3x knock downs... I need more Traps, only one so farWould be hot to kill them w/ one knock down.. would make it so much easier, But i always keep com/rav/rav going when chain is maxed, guess I should try comx3
I heard that the black guy using blitz is pretty pro, but i haven't tried it.
I don't think it's mathematically possible to kill them in 1 knockdown, but when I get maxed out on dark matter I'll let you know heh.
The big problem with them is that they get crazy when they get up from the knockdown, the best solution I've found is to make sure you have tp to summon when they get up.
oh, and, enfire just completely destroys shaolong, so that's where you build tp
those you can kill in 1 stagger, easily

damn youtube tags not working again for me
lol spamming death for 999,999, nice
Damn, switching to commando right before death lands makes it do max damage? Should have exploited that shit earlier. Need some good magic though, and genji gloves/capped weapon.
In addition to Plow's strat, between steps 1 and 2, switch to the SAB paradigm and land slow on the main part of the Gui. It's pretty easy, usually only taking one round, and greatly increases time between stomps.
Also, if you don't want to use summons for the second stagger, make sure to not take it below 50% on the first stagger or else it can do Roar>Ultima (at least from my experience). So when it's downed, put imperil, deshell, deprotect, and poison, then stagger it to 999% once and immediately Highwind. Then you can start rebuffing everyone and curing to full while you wait for it to stand up again. Just remember to land slow on the head once it does stand and repeat the process to down it again for the kill. I was just rotating the three Guis + the Adamantoise in the Steppe towards the end of my game for ingots, so any TP I did have I just saved in case shit hit the fan. And faggot Shaolongs were putting out more dark matter than gold dust so I didn't bother with them.
And holy shit that that Death spam strat... wish I'd have discovered that when I was still farming. Was always looking for a way to kill them in one stagger, but could only manage just under 16M damage. That's awesome!
I knocked them down by killing the legs the first two times. Then on my third i immediately summon because it seems like they spam roar/Ultima more often the lower they get. And i can't live through the 3rd round of legs if i don't summon. But again, I only have one ultima weapon and I havent been trying com/com/com for when staggered (all roles are maxed). Can you get Hope to break 100k mark easily enough to give him genji gloves?
Honestly light doesn't even need genji on long gui, and fang wouldn't really if I didn't use highwind to take down the legs. I just don't bother to switch back and forth between shaolong and long.
Long Gui have absurd defense even while fully debuffed and staggered @999, fang is hitting for like 60k/swing.
That's step 4 ;pIn addition to Plow's strat, between steps 1 and 2, switch to the SAB paradigm and land slow on the main part of the Gui. It's pretty easy, usually only taking one round, and greatly increases time between stomps.
I actually have all that stuff in a very specific order because I've spent extensive time perfecting it for efficiency.
It's hard to explain exactly, but the others kind of adjust to what you cast, so you can manipulate the order (even more specifically than what I listed, actually).
Example:
You're controlling Fang, with van and light. You go into Syn, and start "auto-buffing". You're going to be having light aimlessly casting non-ra buffs, and Van casting buffs at the same time as you.
Solution: (EXACT order)
Faithra > Bravera > Shellra on Fang
Shellra > Bravera > Faithra on Van
Auto on light will Bravera > Faithra if you do it immediately, she'll already have shellra from Van.
Van will veil/vigilance stuff while you're doing that. Light will haste everyone ASAP and then -ra if you have imperil up.
Another example:
If your pacing is right, you'll take 1 stomp during step 2.
As soon as you switch to step 3, queue up 3x Cura, but don't cast them.
Another stomp will land right as Van/Light cap everyone off.
Start your curas casting, you'll be right back at 100% and can move on without waiting for an atb gague.
^ This is valid on both Long and Shaolong. However, on Long you probably actually need to heal quickly between steps 1 and 2 in my list.
I'm probably going to make a couple youtube vids if I can figure out a spot to set my camera during the fights, I have shaolong dying in 1 stagger easily every time, even if they Bay in the middle of it, and Long Gui with no summon or death spam or anything in under 3 minutes. The patterns actually get really predictable. I'm even surviving a lot of the bay>ultima and roar>ultima I was qq'ing about so much the other day.
edit: Exactly what Plow said... but make sure Poison is always on him while hes down.
Oops, missed that sorry. We pretty much have identical strats, then.
Another protip: Instead of just sitting in SEN/SEN/SEN waiting for the opening Ultima, use a Steelguard right before it lands to take even less damage from it. Sadly, your other two party members will default to Provoking it, though.
If you own an Elixir, you can just own its face without even needing to heal.
* Before Battle Preparations: The key to this strategy is preperation. You want to start with an Elixir in your inventory. There is only one Elixir in the game, if you still have it great, if not you can obtain an Elixir by fully upgrading a Doctor's Code to max level and then dismantling it. Next you should make sure your battle party is strong enough for this fight which will be around the time you receive the Master's Seal. Next is your weapons, the stronger the Commando weapons are, the better, I had a level 98 Omega Weapon for Lightning, a level 78 Kain's Lance for Fang and only a level 38 level 3 weapon for Hope. Ninj4's weapons were higher, but anywhere around this level should be fine. Next up make sure you have an Aegisol and Fortisol shroud. then set your Paradigms with these: Sab/Sab/Syn, Rav/Com/Rav and Com/Com/Com or Com/Com/Rav. Now you are ready for battle.
* Battle Strategy: As you approach our Long Gui pal use your shrouds to gain enhancements and set your Sab/Sab/Syn as the active paradigm. Once the battle starts immediately call your Eidolon to avoid the Ultima spell and knock down the Long Gui. Now cast Poison, DeShell, Deprotect, Imperil, and Slow, if you have it, with your leader. Once you have hit him with these use your Eidolons special attack to quickly get rid of him. Once the party returns, if you haven't hit him with slow yet, let your other Saboteur cast slow on him, then immediately change to Rav/Com/Rav to drive up his chain gauge. Once it staggers continue this Paradigm until you hit 999% then immediately shift to Com/Com/Com or Com/Com/Rav and start to pound away on him. You should be able to get him halfway down on his health between attacks and Poison before he gets up. Now here's the key, as soon as he gets back to his feet use your Elixir to recharge your TP and quickly summon your Eidolon again to knock him back down and avoid his devastating attacks he will unleash when he gets up. Once he is down change your paradigm back to Sab/Sab/Syn and recast his status ailments. once he is properly afflicted follow the same steps above to finish him off. Done right and with a strong enough party, he should die by the end of the second stagger or right after it ends and never have a chance to even hit you or you even needing to heal anyone. If you follow these steps your shroud enhancements should also last the entire battle.
I find Long Gui's to be way easier than shenlongs, they just take longer.
Shenlongs like to Bay me when I get them staggered :/
Doesn't matter much when you kill them in 2 attack rounds.
Shaolong are really simple.
Same set of 3x each for paradigms
start in sen/sen/sen
go syn/syn/syn soon as quake lands, get shellra/protectra/bravera/faithra on all
go med/med/med, do the heal timing around the incoming stomp
go sab/sab/sab, spam slow let the other 2 do everything else, when it's fully debuffed manually get it dazed
syn/syn/syn, refresh your bravera/haste on fang while light enfires everyone
go tri-med while it's still staggered, get to 100%
go tri rav, get gauge to 999
go tri-com, kill in 2 attack rounds
With this gear:
Fang Training maxed *
3x kaiser *
genji
Van Bella maxed *
1x kaiser (ya rly)
genji
collector's
connoisseur's
Light Axis maxed *
3x kaiser *
genji
My fang hits ~510k per swing, Light about 320k per swing, and Van about 220k per swing, on Shaolong fully buffed/debuffed with enfire. They're 10-20% after the first attack round of triple com.
yeah, I know what to do, ive been farming them for awhile. was only stating that I find Long Gui's easier lol
