Q&A with Japanese Players (JP Qs pg 10)

Golden Week starts very soon in Japan, which is a bunch of holidays morphed together in order to give people a full week off from work and school. With all the time off, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to open up communications again between the EN and JP players.

To begin, I'm going to start this thread in several forums and take questions. The questions will then be posted on JP-based forums to be read and answered, and their new questions will be brought back. The results of compiled questions and answers will be presented on JP Button, but to participate you need only reply in your forum of choice. The JP Button Community Team will be monitoring all the threads involved in the Q&A project. Your feedback is important to us.

In addition to the discussion itself, Corinth is constructing a survey that will be posted along with the results pages on the site. If you find the Q&A project interesting, we would really appreciate it if you filled out the survey, so we could present more data about each side of the player base. With the Q&A and survey results together, I think there is real potential here to help English and Japanese players understand each other much better. I hope you agree and help us out with this project. We're even figuring out how to throw a prize in there for a lucky survey participant (art book, manga, etc.)

To begin, just submit any burning questions in this thread. Any questions or comments about the project itself can be posted or PM'd or e-mailed. If you have concerns with someone else's questions, you can address the issue (e.g. "It was asked already") without flaming.

During the Elemental Resistance nerf/bug, forums indicated that Japanese players were left in the dark as well. There were comments to the effect that they should utilize the "ferocious power of the NAs" to get the attention of SE and do something about the problem. It seems like even though they have lots of articles and stuff at their fingertips, they still feel like there's little response from the company itself regarding important issues.

Fair enough. I guess I'm kind of wanting these questions to be useful like when we actually get to throw something at the devs. More blurple shit or asking about COR/WHM when we already know the answer seems like a waste of time for everyone. Granted, I don't have a whole hell of a lot I'd like to ask the JPs, but I'm sure someone does. Maybe see if they're concerned about SE lapsing in quality updates while attempting to milk further cash out of us through the add-ons and stuff like the tokens? Some other posters hinted on those in separate queries, though.

Are you worried about the direction FFXI could be taking with introduction of the mini-expansions and other microtransactions such as the security token?

I mostly want to get at Japanese opinion of the possibility DLC-esque things becoming common in FFXI.

Some questions I had that were raised by the last Q&A:

Until we have a real "culture translator", contextual communication is difficult - but what are some new AutoTranslate phrases you'd like to see? Both things you wish English speakers would say and things you don't know how to express except in Japanese.

another way of phrasing it might be,
Many English-speaking players are aware of short Japanese phrases, and last time it was mentioned that "people who try to speak Japanese, even poorly, make a good impression". What are some useful Japanese cultural or gameplay-related idioms we might not be aware of?

Since the last Q&A, have you had any experiences of EN xp parties being more conducive to your regular play style? On the other hand, have you tried to participate in a "revolving door" party a few times? How was it?

For those who never had a good experience with English-speakers, what kind of experiences have you had with other foreigners, perhaps players from Europe?
