    Keep failing job interviews

Ok i just did like my 4th interview for a network admin job and it's the 4th no i get today, and getting depressed.

Tbh i don't know if it's my experience that has the problem or just my interview attitude

i have 3 years experience in that job, and i have put a reference in my CV that i wasn't actually in good term with that boss (so i don't know if my interviewer called him)

But since it's job experience in the domain i kept it, should i take it off my CV?

As for interview i can't stop shaking i practice alot but when i get there i'm all shaking and talking blah blah kinda.

Any tips? this is getting bad

In all honesty, if shakyness is getting to you on the spot. As retarded as it sounds, try some liquid courage. Just don't smell like it when you sit down with him.

^this. 2 shots of vodka do wonders for calming down before an interview/speech/presentation/etc.

Also it doesn't really hurt to try to find out why you didn't get the previous jobs. Not like you have anything to lose by asking.

this. also im in the same boat as well. doesn't seem to matter what i do or try it never pans out. i dont really want to do any admin work though since i've never really been comfortable with it even after doing the whole MCSA thing. but whenever i've tried to talk to companies about what went wrong or right its usually you are to advanced for us or you are not advanced enough. and there was one odd one who threatened to call the cops on me because they thought i was going to hack into some shit heh...

if all else goes south you can always move to bentonville ar and go to work for walmart/JB Hunt/tyson/etc etc. there are a fuckton of other vendors for walmart around there also that could use the help.

A+ is a nice start, but chances are you gonna get looked over by anyone with a degree in anything, and a MS cert (MCP doesnt count). Work on trying to get atleast MCSA while getting MOS and MCDST. You might have to set your sights low and get into a tech company thatll help pay for your certs and/or 2 year college.

20% of job interviews is your references coming back ok.
80% is coming across as a more socially acceptable person than the other candidates.

Basically you need to smile when you enter the room and come across like a normal person and not be nervous/etc.

Above problem is even worse if its women hiring, men will overlook the social interaction aspect more.

Does this person know that you are using them as a reference? References are for your benefit and you should personally contact each and every one before putting their name on your resume. Don't even consider using a reference that you aren't 100% sure will give you a glowing reveiw.

A reference also doesn't necessarily have to be your boss. If you worked for another supervisor that you are on better terms with, use them. If you are on better terms with your bosses boss, use them, etc. Hell, you can even use someone who isn't a supervisor, but say has a lot of experience in that field.

If you can't find someone to fit the bill, then you should take that as a clue and look in the mirror and address why you couldn't find someone to use a reference.

I personally conduct interviews semi-reguarly for my empoloyer. As far as interviews go, almost everyone gets nervous. Having that show a little bit isn't going to hurt you; however, having it dominate your interview will. Self confidence is one of the main things I look for. If you got an interview, you are already qualified for the job. So now is your opportunity to sell me on you and why you are better than everyone else, both professionaly and personaly.

I can't say that I would recommend "liquid courage", but w/e I guess. I can guarentee that if the interviewer smell alcohol or even suspects it, you won't be getting the job.

Sounds really like you just need to work on your self confidence. A good trick is to also do some research on the company you are applying to and ask questions about them. It's always impressive when an applicant asks pointed questions about things my company had done recently.

I have a friend who interviewed with more than 15 companies more than 20 interviews in total before landing a job she really wants. I think it's the economy than anything else, there are an overwhelming supply of candidates for all the job openings out there.

    Bad economy is horrible.

You should honestly be thrilled that you're even getting interviews, let alone responses to your resume whatsoever. The trend these days is not to even reply to people if they aren't interested in them right off the bat.

once you get to an interview it's not the economy that's losing you those jobs.

take a few public courses about how do conduct an interview; you should be able to find some online or something. I know I sucked in the interview situation before I did a lot of practice with it. It's more or less just showing enthusiasm for the company and making it clear what you can offer that you feel is superior to others. Tons of people are certified in xx and yy, but what will you bring to the company that will make you an asset.

This is kind of disheartening, since that's the position I'll most likely be applying for soon.

I can't give any personal advice for interviews, but the class I'm taking is to help with that. Like someone else said, just be confident and smile when you first get there, and asking questions about the company helps too.

It depends on who he's up against. The post-interview possible problem is that you either a) have too much experience that they don't want to pay for, they want entry-level nubs or b) there are others out there with way more experience but got layed off and are forced to drop their rates down to entry-level status just to keep their house/car/etc.

Here's the deal. When you get an interview at a place, you're qualified (all though, mistakes do happen, resumes get mis-read or people tend to blur together, like the time I interviewed as a 16 year old high school student for the front desk at Gold's Gym and the interviewer opened with, "So you just got out of the Army, what was your MOS?").

There's no reason to be nervous. They want to like you, and the ball's in your court to show that you are a good 'fit' with the company. Just be yourself, unless yourself = impolite or socially awkward. Example: I've met a lot of people who when you just greet them with a "Hi, how's it going?" And they respond, "Good."

The correct response is "Good/not too bad/etc. and you?" or "Good/not too bad/I'm not dead yet, how are you?" When you don't reciprocate you kind of seem like a selfish ass, even if 99% of the time you don't care how the person is doing, it's still part of the social contract that's acceptable to most people.

I was going to simply post to tell you to have a drink or two before you go in. Gambling can also help if you live near a casino. Just go throw a fifty down (or some smaller arbitrary amount if that's too much) on the wheel and let it ride.

not to be a jerk but doesn't someone have you quoted as saying "applicated"? typo's and poor grammar can be an immediate "No." in most jobs not related to construction and physical labor
