Hey Dr BG, two possibly unrelated questions

    1. I have not, to my knowledge made any significant changes to my environment or lifestyle, yet for the past three weeks I have been producing ridiculous amounts of phlegm, having to cough up a loogie 15-20 times a day, if not more. Any idea what, if anything I can do?

    2. I have been waking up with what feels like a hangover every morning, despite not drinking. Splitting headache, light/noise sensitivity, plus still feeling tired as shit and so on, any idea what is causing it and what I can do to fix it?

It sure sounds like you're suffering from the incredibly rare phenomenon of allergies. I doubt you'll get any help around here, because they're so incredibly rare it's likely nobody has ever experienced them.

It's too bad all these symptoms aren't described on Claritin bottles or anything.

You're thinking of that other super uncommon affliction with similar symptoms as yours, the common cold.

Allergies come in a billion different ways.

Try claritin (or don't), and if it doesn't work try a doctor.

What the hell? Go see a doctor. We're not medical specialists.

Three weeks of phlegm production indicate a severe irritation of the esophagus. You probably have a staph infection (which you didnt mention a sore throat, so it's hard to tell) or a strep infection (again, no sore throat so it's hard to tell). Sounds mostly like the precursor to an ear infection. Go seek medical attention (which you should have weeks ago).

Because Vajra was already banned for it, so you don't see it as often.

If it makes you feel any better, you're going through what I am right now.

Its a combination of allergies + stress though.

take benedryl and allergy medicine, if it doesn't help, see a doctor etc etc...

    shouldn't need one though.

I've been taking mucinex, I'll try benadryl, thanks for the tips. I'm trying to avoid the doctor if possible, as I am between jobs atm, and my copay is either 25 or 35 dollars. not a lot, by any means, but if meds I have/patience will make it better, thats money saved for other bills.

Depending on where you live, this is the perfect time of year for allergies. Every year, from early May through late June, I have the same issues. And it didn't hit me the first year I was in the current region. I didn't get anything the first 3-4 years, then all of a sudden *wham* if hit me, hard.

Personally, I have had a lot of success with Zyrtec as a counter-allergy medicine, but I think it's a little more expensive than Claritin. It was prescription only until about two years ago, now it's OTC.

Probably worth it in the long run to get tested on what exactly you're allergic to. Once you narrow it down, you can be more aware and less likely to have to spend money on meds if it's something minor like dust or pets.

Seriously man, Claritin (including generics, it's Loratadine) is absolutely amazing.

I highly, highly recommend it, 1 pill a day and you'll never have to deal with like 95% of allergies that aren't going to outright require prescription/injection level shit again.

If you avoid getting medical attention right now (3 weeks is a little extreme for excess-mucus even with allergies) you may have an even more serious condition that will cost you even more.
