FFXI sound problem

I cant get any sound from ffxi on my PC everything else works fine. I have my TV hooked up to my PC and If I drag ffxi to the tv i get sound, I cant figure it out any help would be nice thanks

Lemme see if I understood this correctly:

You're using two screens, hence why you said "drag ffxi to the tv", meaning you're using the TV as your secondary screen?

Please could you post a little bit more information in terms of your set up, what cables you have plugged in to your TV, what sound cables you have hooked up, and where they go, etc.

ya I use my TV as a secondary screen. Its hooked up to my pc via a hdmi cable. I dont have speakers for my pc just use a headset cuz im mostly on vent. I have vista use the newest windower. let me know if you would like any more info and thanks for the help^^

I'm assuming by your sometime success that your graphics card handles audio over HDMI, so I think it's just a matter of telling it to handle all the computer's audio, rather than just things which are on it's screen (that's a strange function for it to default to, but what the hell, there's plenty of strange things in computers...)

What you should do, is go into the Control Panel, and change your audio settings so that your HDMI output is set as the default for all sound on the computer, then (if you can - I'm going off how I use Windows 7, I haven't used vista so I can't be 100% this will translate) set your line out which you use for your headset as the "default communication device."

Then in ventrilo, set it up so that your output device on the main page of preferences is set to use the line out (or whatever your headset is plugged into)

This should result in you getting sound through your TV, while keeping vent coming through your headset. If you wanted to have sound only through your headset, you'd set line out as your default sound device. Similarly, revert the settings in vent if you wanted all sound out the TV. I'm sure you'll figure out the logistics.

I really only use my tv to watch hd movies that i dl. when I do I set hdmi cable to defult sound and all pc sounds come out the tv speakers. for everything else I set defult to headset and everything works but ffxi wich i cant figure out why
