    Cannot delete file...

So I'm trying to delete oldcrap music I downloaded years ago. But when I got to this folder. I was unable to delete these two files only.

(See spoilers for table breaking screencaps)

    Things I've tried.

    -Malwarebytes FileASSASSIN
-Renaming the folders, making a new dummy folder, moving. But still unable to delete, or rename the files themselves.
    -Knoppix no dice
-MoveOnBoot/BartPE/etc. won't work. It won't even show the file.
    -Safe mode didn't work.
-Tried unchecking Read-Only file/etc. from the properties when both files are selected, but it will end up rechecking the options if I check it again.

Also to note, even though these files say they are MPEG-3 files, they are completely unplayable.

Any Ideas? I'm thinking this was from a bad compiled torrent, thus causing the 0 byte issue within the file itself?

Probably the lengths of the names of the files that are causing the issues. Its happened to me before, but generally in that case the error message you receive is different.

I can't tell what your OS is since you darkened everything out, but try opening up CMD prompt and using CACLS (pre Vista) or LCACLS (Vista beyond). Its the file management system of Windows that occurs behind the scenes when you're clicking checkboxes, and usually, if all else fails, you can use it to get control of files. Just type in the name and read through the command list; its not really difficult to use.

Windows doesn't like files with more than 260 characters in the path name. That's your first problem, your files have a few more than that. To be able to do anything, you have to cut about 30 characters off the path minimum. If you can, rename ALL the parent folders to single letters.

Once the entire path (including drive letter and extension) is lower than ~250 characters, try something like Unlocker (UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB) to delete the actual file.

Renamed the folders 1/2/3/4/etc. Worked like a charm and deleted completely. Never knew that about the maximum character limit in XP. Thanks for the quick replies.

Not just XP, all of the Windows OS's have character limits for filenames in so far as my knowledge extends. I haven't done much with Windows 7 so I don't know if it applies there.
