    Crafting Rings

So anyone here spent the GP on the crafting ring of their guild? What kind of bonuses does this give where its worth the loss of HQ rates?

I'm a woodworker so I can definitely see this being useful for the more expensive furniture synths like aquariums and etc, and other such crafts like making ingots.

well, if your craft requires a lot of low level nqs in order to make another item, the inability to hq helps a lot. for example: cuir gloves needed for tiger gloves needed for dusk gloves.... hq'ing tons of cuir sucks. prior to the ring, i would pay someone to synth them so i didnt hq all the time.

other than that, i cant remember or track failures with/without the ring.

One of the best GP purchases I made. HQing ingredients that need to be NQ sucks, and the ring has saved me a lot of time tracking down a lower level blacksmith.

1% more success rate IMO isn't really noticeable, but I'm also the guy that breaks synths with the ring on and advanced support when Artisan's Advantage is up, so I'll take what I can get.

I think it's generally the case that crafters get the ring to prevent HQs, not for preventing breaks so base your purchase on it's utility to you with respect to that purpose. :]

I bought one on my leather mule and it's great. Stuff like behemoth leather -1% break rate takes it down to 4% instead of 5% so that lowers my break from 1/20 to 1/25. Over time, this will in theory save me a lot of gil. In addition, it helped a lot for GP items which required a sub synth of an NQ pair of low level gloves or something along those lines such as tiger gloves/feet.

Also, I'll be called an asshole for this, but when people /sh for a leathercrafter then don't want to split a HQ with me in that 1% chance I throw on the NQ ring synth and problem solved.

I got my tailor's ring for pretty much for one item- peace capes. Not being able to HQ that synth will prevent that HQ and let me get some skillups in the 99-100 push now and then.

I do use it for making threads/cloths as well- a little more security when there is no HQ of a synth.

And of course got it 4th after +skill items, but at 70k, I think in a lot of crafts its worth it.

I assume break rate is 4% with it instead of 5%. Noticeable? Not really but it helps.

The first rule of fight club <_< >_>

But no, I totally know what you mean, HQ2d my first time on soulflayer staff, I have to say that seeing that spinel almost feels worse than breaking D:

but I'm currently just above 80 so I dont HQ much, but at 100+4 one would rarely break, and the ring would eliminate the HQs, so caching caching

yea, but you want the nq and the ring does prevent hq on desynths so it's awesome for desynthing soulflayer staves.

I personally think that's awesome. Gonna start doing this too. Thanks for the idea.

I usually ask em beforehand if they want me to use the ring or not, but that's just me.

Why synth at all if they wont agree to your terms? Why waste your time?

Still get the 10k for the synth, they just don't agree to HQ terms. So NQ ring on, successful 10k.

well here's how I see it, if I have a crafter synthing something for me and I'm paying him too, if he doesn't want to have to pay for the items if he breaks, he doesn't get the profit if he HQs either.

I will however tip double if he HQs.
