    Need some help with Trojans

So like the idiot I am I had been using some psp video converter which worked just fine for a few months. But today it infected me with some trojans and things are looking pretty bad. Some spyware removal program I stumbled upon wouldn't remove it and now this thing is blocking off nearly everything I can think of.

It apparently disabled system restore and I'm trying to figure out how to get that to work again and if it may fix the problem if I do. Also I've noticed this thing has been redirecting me to other pages on firefox when I tried to look up other answers. I tried dling other spyware removal programs but this thing is pretty much blocking everything I do.

I saw the name Trojan.Generic. I have no idea what this is or how I can get rid of this but any help would be appreciated.

I'm on windows xp professional. Oh ans I keep getting a message from Some security tool thing that dl'd itself on my pc about a Lsas.blaster.keylogger.

Trojan.Generic sounds something like I removed recently. You might want to look up SuperAntiSpyware to remove it. It did the trick for me. I also don't know how I got it in the first place but mine wasn't really doing anything...

Cephius, when I try to reboot in safe mode my pc crashes. Was trying to follow the guide you made but I can't seem to start it up in safe mode.

That's not a good sign. Someone at work got that same virus with the "Police Pro" and it completely destroyed his machine. Even when we formatted the drive it would come back, only after replacing the entire motherboard and doing 3 passes of 0-write to the hard drive did it get rid of it.

I honestly haven't heard of a good way to get rid of it, but try running combofix in normal windows and see if you can get it to run. That'd be a start.

Did you try renaming it to something like "Combo1.exe" ?

Yeah. Pretty much anything I try to use including that and even something like winamp this thing will say is infected with a worm Lsas.Blaster.keylogger and how its trying to send my credit card details using wscsvc32.exe to connect to a remote host. Firefox was still working but half the links I clicked on in google were redirected. I ended up unplugging the net from my pc so now I'm just using the ps3 browser to be on here.

It seems like the security tool thing I have is causing these problems also. However I can't access the page to remove that on the site you linked me to to remove Windows police pro. Is there any way to link me to the link to download the process explorer that site says I need to get rid of this?

Wow. I've managed to follow most of the steps on all these removals but even after ending the processes of these things they are still going.

When viruses act in this manner, you need to learn how to cheat.

Get a Linux Live CD, use that to boot, then clean the machine with Linux based tools. If Windows is not active, you needn't worry about the processes.

Even if it's gone, you don't really know what it's done to your system, damaged files or what not. I'd recommend transferring whatever files you want to save and then formatting/reinstall windows.

    I suggest reformatting.

I also suggest being damn sure you know what you transfer, otherwise you might bring it back.
