    Computer won't boot (no display)

Hi guys :/ Last week, I decided to buy new RAM for my computer. I opened my computer to see my memory, I took it out of the socket then put it back. I then realised that my graphic card fan was full of dirt so I carefully pulled it out and cleaned it. I put it back in and when I tried to boot my computer, I would have no display. I took out the graphic card again, put it back and my computer booted normally.

Yesterday, I got my new memory, I tried to install it but it was hard for me so I took out the graphic card again to do it. I installed everything, tried to boot up but it wouldn't. Here's what I tried after and in that order without any success.

-Took out the video card a few times and put it back
-Took out the new memory and tried to boot with the old stuff I had in before
-Tried to boot with only the new memory
-Tried to put my video card in my other available slot
-Removed all cables and connected them all again
-Tried to boot without a graphic card, I didn't heard any "beep"
-Tried to boot with only the CPU on board and the fans connected, I didn't heard any "beep"

When I turn on my computer, all fans starts (the one in my case, the one on my CPU and the one on my graphic card), I hea my HD but I don't hear any beep. My DVD drive read and my leds works...

So i'm a little bit lost here :/ A friend of mine told me it could be the PSU, but I have no way to test it right now (I don't own a multimeter or an old PSU). It's the same for the graphic card, I don't have another one to test if it works. Anyone knows what I could do ? Here's my spec

    Mainboard : MSI K9N Platinium
Graphic card : Asus NVidia EN7600GT 256 mo
Case with power supply : Antec with a 300 watt power supply
My computer is about 3 years old...

    Thanks

It could be something still isn't quite seated. You could also try unplugging the machine and taking out the CMOS battery and letting it sit for a bit. If, for some reason, it had thermal protection trip or something, that should reset it.

did you pull the heatsink off to clean it? its a longshot but they have a coating of thermal paste in there to make the cooling fan more efficient (much more efficient),

further on, does the motherboard have an onboard graphics port you could try?

did you ground yourself while doing all this?

-I didn't pull the heatsink off, I just cleaned the fan palms with a toothpick :/

-There's no graphics port on the motherboard :/ I have an older computer, I wanted to try the graphic card but it's so old that there's no PCI slot on it.

-Yeah, I did ground myself and kept unplugging it each time I was trying something new.

Try putting one stick of RAM only in the slot nearest the CPU. Cycle through each of your RAM sticks and see if you get any different results.

Try to boot with a different graphics card?

I mean am I missing something here?

You could even try that card in another PC. See if it gives the same issues.

Yeah the problem is that I don't have another computer right now I could use for a test :/ I'll try to see if I can find a friend not busy who could help me with that lol

Ooooh yeah that would do it. (In case you can't see it, one of the contacts in the second DIMM socket fell loose into the bottom of the socket)

Yeah, sorry I didn't put any hint where to look lol I asked a friend about it last night, he told me maybe we could remove it but my question is, is my motherboard fried ? I guess the only answer is to remove the contact and test it but if my motherboard is fried for sure, I won't wait and i'll try to get a new one asap.

    GG on installing that RAM.

You can try to bend that pin away from the one across from it. As long as they aren't making contact you should be fine.

Also sounds like you aren't seating the graphics card correctly.

Make sure it's fully pushed in evenly. Do NOT screw it into the case yet, try it just after you push it in.
