    Unigen Tropics benckmark Test/Results Thread

I saw somewhere that people were wondering about a FFXI benchmark and since there isn't one out yet i figured i'd toss a pretty good one up for you all to test your rigs on.

    What you need to do:

    1. Go here and get this download http://unigine.com/download/#tropics

    2. Load it up set parameters

    3. Run Benchmark

4.Post your Machine specs as follows:

    A. CPU and Speed
    B. RAM Amount and Speed
    c. Motherboard
    D.Videocard Company, RAM amount.

    Results for me:

Hm, I recall SE releasing at least 2 benchmarks for FFXI. If this is say for in preparation of FFXIV, it would be better to wait for a FFXIV one because it would be based around the engine FFXIV actually uses.

    Unless I'm missing something.

The reason is that your running alot higher resolution then most of what we are seeing, for instance if you did the same test at 1024x768 then you'll score alot better....but you might have to up the Anti-Alising, I ran heaven @ 1680x1050 w/ 2xAA and i am pretty happy with my score. Before FFXI though i will be doing 3 upgrades - another GTX260 to run in SLI- 6gig more of ram and probably overclock the core i7 to 4.2-4.5ghz. Specifically to make sure that i have a better experiance then my little bro on PS3 lol.

I won't profess in knowing the most of my computer. Was a birthday present I graciously accepted since my old one was like 7 years old. Only thing my test info didn't seem to note was me having 8gb RAM. I dunno if I would've been better off RIGHT NOW with a Quad Core rather than Duo, but my gut says Quad would've been wiser in the long run. Either way, I'm also paranoid about overclocking since I've never done it before and my room tends to go on the extremes of temperatures since its heating/AC sucks compared to the rest of the house.

Might want to check that your duct is connected to the rest of the house.
A friend of mine had a problem with one room in his house and it wasn't connected to the HVAC even though all the vents were cut.

Are you using Vista or Windows 7? XP won't recognize that amount of ram.

    Vista 64.

As for my ventilation, I've followed the ducts throughout the basement. I'm connected (unless there are holes or something along the tops I can't see), but I'm also a good 30-40 yards from a furnace that's probably older than most posters here.

If you're expecting to be in that room for a significant amount of time, you can purchase something called a duct booster. It's basically a powered fan that you "splice" into the ductwork and need to connect to an electrical source, and powerfans the air through the duct.
Pretty easy to install, home depot has them in varying sizes/powers for ~$25-$100, ie: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...6X-_-100080191

Using DirectX11 resulted in an FPS of 21.4

    EDIT:

Some out-of-the-box GPU overclocking resulted in about a 10% performance increase:

    DirectX10 - 33.7 FPS

    DirectX11 - 23.6 FPS

    DirectX11(tessellation off) - 34.6 FPS

Very interesting benchmark. Is it equal to FFXIV online requierments?

I'm downloading it now, I'll post my results soon.

What I understood from the OP was questioning about FFXI Official Benchmark. I have the "FFXI Official Benchmark 3".

    My System specs:
    =============================== System =================================
    CPU = Intel(R) Pentium(R) ? Processor with MMX
    CPU Speed = 2405 MHz
    No. of CPUs = 4
OS = Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 Ver 5.01.2600
    Version of DirectX = DirectX9.0c
    Main Memory = Capacity:2046MB : Free Space:1468MB
Graphics Card = NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT
    Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
