    Need help with dvd ripping/burning

I'm a total noob at dvd burning so still learning a lot. I downloaded dvdfab and had been using that with much success and was pleased. But after the 30 day trial or whatever I've been having problems ever since.

-doesn't automatically shrink dvd size to 4.7gb or under to burn
-error comes up after every rip, but rip still is good
-have to reset all options to default and restart program before i can attempt a burn at all
-after a burn, I do not have any options/menu for the dvd. Best example is I just burned a movie called Old Boy. The movie is in korean, so I wanted to go to options and change it to english. no options. and there was plenty of disk space.

I tried dvdfabs forums but didn't find useful information. And really, it just seems bg people help out with just about damn near any/everything. Any help is appreciated.

edit: should I look into a different dvd ripping/burning software? suggestions?

I use HandBrake to convert video files and get the audio tracks I want out of them, but I don't use it to make video DVDs from the resulting files. We don't watch movies off of video DVD anymore here, we rip them to the file server and then throw them on whatever screen we want with our laptops or AVI-compatible DVD player with a USB port.

ConvertXtoDVD is pretty solid and is generally the all-in-one software that I see people referred to for these types of things. I've used it with success for burning home videos and older material to DVD so I can't really say how well quality is maintained, though.

Thanks for the suggestions. A coworker suggested dvdfab. I've pretty much been enjoying getting movies from Netflix and ripping/burning them and sending them back same day to just rack up movies. I never had an issue until the free trial ran out. I never once changed any setting or anything. Always done everything the same since day 1 of having the software. I had successfully burned 9 dvds prior to this.

I"ll give the suggestions a try and see how well they work.

Out of curiousity when the trial ran out did you buy it, crack it, or can you just continue using it for free but with limited options?

I'm continuing to use it and that's when everything went screwy with it. Listed in OP is what's been happening since. I did download dvd shrink but haven't tried ripping a movie yet with it.
