So forgive me if this has already been made a topic, but I have limited bandwidth and the search function takes 3 hours for me to use here..
I was reading up on current events and was looking at the details of these brutal killings/torture/attacks of christians on muslims and vice versa. I know we have 50,000+ dead in Haiti due to good ole mother nature (or alah/jesus if you walk that perverbial dog..), but the brutal human on human murder of men/woman/children, burning of people alive, and defiling of the bodies by christians/muslims just made me sick.
It seems that christians surrounded this one village and attacked muslims hiding in mosques/homes and murdered people attempting to escape, casting their bodies into wells and burning them alive. Muslims apparently were participating in similar acts of counterviolence.
From earlier reports, violence in this region between the religions have been recorded to be even worse than this incident, but have also been related to land (or perhaps land ownership by religious sect?).
Perhaps it is simply my bias on the subject, but can some people give me the standard "their behavior isnt characteristic of their religion so religion isnt to blame here" excuse, or can people admit that religion motivated these brutal killings by instigating violence and prejudice. Im looking for another way to percieve this beyond "wtf religion" and "fuck humanity".
