Will this video card run ffxi?

My desktop finally keeled over after 10 years of usage and 7 years of FFXI on it. Came home today and my harddrive was clicking and pretty much assumed it was dead. Rather than try to buy a new harddrive to salvage it, I figured it was time for a cheap upgrade.

Browsing around craigslist, I found this ad:http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...656875346.html. I was curious about the videocard and if it would be capable to run ffxi. I don't know too much about ATI and on my ffxi box it says it'd need Radeon 9000 series. Would the video card it has, an ATI All In Wonder X800 XT Video Card 256MB dedicated video RAM , be sufficent for XI? It's all the computer would be used for since I use my laptop for everything else, and I hate playing xi on my laptop.

I'm also not sure if the price is good for that bundle. I like the fact it runs off of XP since I'm used to it and would rather not buy a new pc that runs of Vista. I don't really need a monitor, but a new one wouldn't hurt since I'm currently using a tube monitor so I could probably try to talk him into selling it just as a stand alone. Anyone have a good idea on a price to offer if he'd sell it as a stand alone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone happens to know of a place I can get a cheap desktop (under $250.00) that can run XI as well as allow for a wireless card to be installed I'd love to see a link. Looked at Newegg and didn't find anything in my price range.

I want to say yes but...I don't know. ATI all in wonder cards were mostly used for media type stuff.

That machine should run FFXI fine. Better than the machine I first started playing on anyway. The card isn't great by today's standards, but was probably half decent when the machine was built. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...rd,2569-6.html has a general comparison for quick reference.

Price, I dunno, it might be a little high, but with a monitor and all...and if the XP license is legal...not too bad I guess.

Far as a cheap new PC, I dunno, you'd be looking at bottom of the barrel Dell or HP on sale. I have a friend who likes ordering from here http://www.geeks.com/products.asp?cat=SYS and they have refurbished systems for a little less.

Possible you could cobble together an upgrade build as well, if your XP license is still good. The newer integrated graphics on the AMD/ATI side are serviceable for FFXI (though not stellar). Might be able to come in under budget, not sure.

That's slightly better than the Radeon 9250 I had in my old machine. It ran FFXI just fine so an X800 should work just about the same.
