Did you merit enmity?

Simple question - just curious on the general average. My feeling is that many people have + enmity merited and only a few - enmity.

I didn't touch enmity merits until Kaeko's enmity testing. After that all came out, I reasoned that if someone wanted both enmity+ for tank job and enmity- for DD job, that going the enmity- route would be more beneficial overall, so that's what I meritted.

For one, if you ignore the enmity cap, enmity- on DD is superior to equal parts enmity+ on tanks. For instance, compared to both groups being at enmity +/-0, if you give a tank enmity+50 and keep DD at -0, then a DD can do 50% more damage without pulling hate. If you keep tank at +0 and give the DD -50, they can do twice as much as their previous damage without pulling hate.

Then if you consider the hate cap, as long as the tank can stay capped (and it seems that other things than enmity+ stats are important to this), the only thing that really matters at that point from a DD perspective is their own -enmity, because it directly increases the amount of damage they can do while staying below the cap. If a tank stays capped with enmity+0, then giving them enmity+50 does nothing, but giving a DD enmity -50 has the same effect as in the above case where the cap isn't considered.

This is just my reasoning, anyway. I don't mean to say that I think people are wrong for doing +enmity. After all, we're talking about +/-4, not +/-50 lol

did -4 asap since i was/am a career blm. I then leveled rdm and rng, so it helps both of those jobs as well.

I did +enmity back when I used NIN alot, but took them off recently now that my active jobs are mainly melee DD. Instead of doing -enmity I did -% enemy crit rate

enmity+, its more important for me to be able to get hate when im tanking, -enmity wont save me on a dd job unless i have loads of it which isnt gunna happen really, just imo~

+Enmity, I'm not a bitchWar, I like my hate and my voke macro is rubbed smooth, added bonus that I am leveling Pld atm.

I didn't touch them: lving PLD atm, but I think I'll throw my merits in crits+ and spell interruption down instead of enm+ or enm-, since I got some mages @75.

+4ENM, I tank on PLD RDM and NIN. BLM SCH and SMN just have to suck it up and learn to take a hit(Terra's, Jelly Ring, Cheviot Cape).

I originally had 4/4 Enmity Down and 4/4 Crit Rate, to which I replaced Enmtiy Down with Spell Interuption, since I wanted to level NIN. In retrospect, should have just done Spell interuption and I would a saved myself merits. =/

Haven't touched Enmity. I contemplated for a while about doing 4/4 +enmity but at the end of the day I'm like the last person in the LS with 75PLD who gets asked to come as PLD so never needed them yet. And tbh I'm not that fussed about playing PLD, I enjoy my mage jobs far more so no merits either way serves all situations.

I merited Enmity+ because Enmity- gear for Whm is a lot easier to come by and is cheaper than Enmity+ gear for Nin

I had initially done 4 +crit, 2 -enmity, 2 spell interrupt, but I took out the -enmity when I started tanking Salvage on MNK.

The other character I play (75PLD 75NIN) has 4 +enmity, and I'm not touching them even if he ends up with a DD job or two.

Haven't touched them. Job spread is COR, DRK, PLD. At the minute I have them in crit hits and enemy crit hit rate. Been contemplating putting them in +enmity for PLD but as of yet they're untouched.

+4 enm, pld drk and blu never get to use pld much but makes drk and blu fun.

didn't touch them- rdm/whm/blm/brd/bst/pld, of which pld is the gimpest so no much point meriting +enm for it really.
