    How to Train Your Dragon

I wanted to watch a movie today, and it was either going to be this or Hot tub. Hot tub seemed like it had good reviews, but ive a soft spot for animated movies, and I was just in the mood to see one, so I went to see How to Train Your Dragon instead.

It was a wonderful movie. The story is pretty basic, and it's just a twist it's a dragon instead of a bad dog, or monster or something, however that doesnt make it any less good. The adventures the boy and his dragon get in to are fun, and it can also be a bit emotional too. I enjoy ragons and norse mythology in general, and this was just some silly fun they had with it.

There wasnt a time when I looked down at my watch, and really wanted it to go on much longer, it was just a real fun movie to watch.

I loved this movie. The story is solid, it is paced well, and the score is fantastic. There was one point where I had "chills" for so long from the awesome action and music that my body was overwhelmed and my eyes teared up. I really liked the direction the story took; there's a mild "twist", where you discover the dragon's true motives/nature which I thought was nice, plus the ending isn't 100% cheesy (arguably).

Toothless (the main dragon) has a bad ass breath attack too haha

Yeah, it really is just good all around for all those reasons. Toothless is indeed badass.

Plan on seeing this tuesday, really looking forward to it.

I have it long on HSX, and it's not making enough weekend so far for it's adjust to match it's price. It'll eat all the profit I made off the Austin Powers 4 news bump. =\ It needs to have a huge saturday jump, waiting on the numbers is nervewracking.

The guy who does the main characters voice is http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0059431/

His voice got on my nerves a little squeaky and annoying
aside from that though the movie was good

Saw the movie yesterday. Very solid movie with a brisk pace, funny in-jokes and a pretty damn good voice cast (Gerald Buttler as the Lead Viking, America Ferreah as Astrid and Craig Fergussion as the other main viking [Forgot some names.]) I saw it in 2D and was still very impressed by it. The story is nice and the little twist at the end makes it a little more down to earth (as down to earth as a fantasy film can get.) All in all, it was a fun movie to watch and it definitely is one of the better movies this year right up there with The Ghost Writer.

A+ Movie, would recommend to anybody.

Oh man maybe as a treat to this hellish week I have coming up I'll see it this weekend. Did any of you see it in 3D and would recommend/not recommend it? I LOVE 3D movies but I hear some only have very minimal 3D in them (like Up had only a few 3D scenes I think?) and I wouldn't want to waste my money if it isn't worth it.

I would recommend 3-D, it made the flying scenes a lot more fun.

Up was like Avatar (good) in its use of 3-D, I fucking hate the cheap use of 3-D as a gimmick, Up not having Kevin's beak or Carl's tennisball cane coming out at the audience every scene made for a better experience.

edit: no intention of seeing this but found it funny that my 10 yr old brother/sister didnt particularly like it.

I really want to see this now. D: Vikings + Dragons must equal auto-win, and it just looks so fun. Don't see 97-98% on Rotten Tomatoes too often either.

Fantastic movie. The 3-D really enhanced the flying sequences.

My friend and I could not stop laughing at how much Stoick looked like Gerard Butler, it was fucking unreal lol

Is the 3-D done properly in this, or does it do shit like depth-of-focus where it forces you to look at something in particular which hurts the eyes in 3-D?

Ever since seeing Avatar and 3-D done properly, my expectations have risen a bit to the point where I want nothing less than that.
(and I don't mean its stupidly realistic visuals, I mean their directing methods in making the effect actually work to the films credit)

The 3D only really works during the flight sequences. Other than that, it just looks like a regular 2D movie with some 3D effects. Saw the movie again on Saturday. (Again) I really recommend this movie to any and all. Its an hour and a half of just great entertainment. It's certainly not the Fight Club of CGI Movies, but it sure as hell is one of the most entertaining.

    A++

So are the reviews on this good because it's actually a good animated movie (see: anything made by pixar) or because it's typical dreamworks drivel but in 3D?

Not even TV's Craig Ferguson could get me to watch this if it's as bad as Kung-Fu Panda or Shark Tale.

    That's the point.

Also, fuck you, Kung Fu Panda was amazing.

Also, the 3-D was pretty good throughout, definitely better in the flight sequences, but I feel 3-D is everyones whipping boy because they're too cool for school.
