    Win 7 FFXI Graphics help

I have FFXI installed on my laptop with Windows7 and the characters look wider than normal and the chat log and all my menus are tiny. I heard there was a way to play around with the registry to make things look really good I'm not too computer savvy but I can follow directions really good can someone hold my hand and walk me through all the steps to make this look as good as possible please.

Again its a laptop and the Display size is 1366x768 and its a mobile intel 4 series express chipset family graphic card I'll be checking in from time to time if you need more info. Thanks guys.

You most likely have the aspect ratio set wrong. You can use the FFXI Config Utility that came with the game (Start > Programs > Play Online > FFXI) to configure the proper aspect ratio. This is the easiest way to do it if you're uncomfortable playing around in your registry. There's also a way to configure the aspect ratio in game (Config > Misc. 2 > Aspect Ratio). Hopefully that takes care of it for you.

I have windows 7 on my laptop, and if you don't want to mess with the reg, best thing to do is mess with the screen size (aspect rations as mentioned) within the FFXI config.

I have mine set to Overlay: 800x600 and Background Res: 1024x1024

You can also mess with textures, effects, etc to attempt to reach desired results.

To give you an example of what you would be looking at with my settings (my graphics card is geforce gt 220m if it helps you any, and I haven't messed with any of the registry on this laptop yet):

    Hope this helps.
