I have a linksys modem that I've been using for years and years now. Here lately I have been having quite a bit of connection trouble from it, and I can't pinpoint if its the modem biting the dust, or if there's something wrong with my coaxial wiring.
What makes me think its the modem itself is that it will show on the box that everything is working properly with no lapse in connection, but all 3 of my laptops on my network wont be able to connect.
My question is, how would I go about effectively pinpointing my problem without running out to buy a new modem? Everything I try doesn't seem to solve the problem. Also it could be something to do with the modem settings, but I haven't messed with those in months...so I'm not sure about that.
Edit: To expand some. In some situations, it seems to be ok, with all PC's connecting. But for seemingly no reason, all of my laptops will D/C from the internet with either the box showing it still has connection, or not (seems to be random). When I completely unscrew the coaxial cable, and then unplug the modem, it seems to remedy the problem for a short time. Just unplugging the modem doesn't seem to fix it.
