NAS recommendations?

As title states, im looking for some recommendations for a NAS enclosure (diskless). Would like to have 4 bays and be able to hold 2TB drives. Thanks in advance.

Personaly I just bought a 12 bay case and a used guts from old PC to make a storage server works fine for me.

I'd rather piece together an old computer and use software to control your harddrives such as...

FreeNAS

win:
Windows Home Server

Otherwise you'd be paying $500+ for a decent NAS (especially 4-bay) that lets you configure bare minimums.

I have several drobos and they're great, I used to build my own NAS computers but it's not THAT much cheaper and I feel less and less like arsing with it.

If you just want a NAS solution, Drobos should be fine. Personally, I like having the choice of doing other stuff with my storage, and I've had bad experiences in the past with other NAS solutions and drive compatibility, so I build my own NAS.

I'll third building your own NAS if you're looking for more than 4 or so HDs. I took some advice from both Kryssan and Kareface (not a coincidence both of them already posted in here).

I just got mine up and running yesterday; the cabling is a mess I know. Some things I can be meticulous on but cable management is just something that drives me nuts. Also, I figured this would take a while but damn.

Edit: helps if I read your post entirely. If you're only going for 4 disks and don't want to be hassled I'd go for one of the units you can buy rather than building your own.
