Display Issue

Whenever I try to access my taskbar in windows 7 ultimate x64, my video card beguns doing this on both monitors...

nvidia 8800gt btw! Rougly three years old.

google has only turnee up DVI corruption and possible onboard RAM problem. The computer boots up fine and everything and the issue seems to take longer to happen if the computer has been off for awhile. Here's hoping it's not a motherboard problem.

Is there anything I can do to fix the problem or am I gonna have to replace hardware? Any help is appreciated. Oh, also, this does not happen while in safe mode.

Overheated video memory is causing artifacting.

If it's doing it constantly the memory is ruined. If it takes a bit before it happens, it needs a better cooling situation.

From your description it sounds like the card is slowly overheating. Take off your case and watch the card run. See if the fan is blowing. Your fan may be broken if this is a new issue.
