I was low on money and was tired of working shit jobs, to be blunt. For those that don't know, I graduated with a music degree from the University of Texas in Austin. I was a huge fan of John Phillip Sousa (Stars and Stripes Forever, Hail To The Chief, etc), who was conductor of the Navy Band. My original goal was to come in and do music.

Well when I got to the recruiter, he told me that because of my ASVAB score, I could do anything I wanted. He then told me about the Nuclear Engineering program, which i should have turned down because i fucking hate math. But he threw money numbers at me, and being a broke bastard, I bit. Got in trouble, got kicked from the program, and that was that. haha

It depends on what you want out of it. If you're just looking to get in for 4 years, grab the GI bill and split, it's most likely 4 years of hell. Listening to people who are probably idiots, cramped living spaces, working with people that everyday give you another reason to punch them. If you're in it to travel, it's amazing, depending on what ship you go to. If you're feeling patriotic, go to a carrier, problem solved. If you want a career, as lnog as you keep a decent attitude and don't let shit get to you, it's nice.
