Ok so, when I got my new prescription about 5 months back I switched to the Acuvue or w/e brand lenses and they felt great, never gave me any problems until I started to drive at night, something I usually didn't need to do, and that's when I noticed that any light coming into the inner corner of my eyes (nose) would blur and give me double vision in some cases. The doctor said that it's cause by lens edge, or the optic zone of the contact being too small to account for the size of my larger size pupil. We tried nearly every contact that he had in stock, over 10 different types and brands, and nothing works. We even tried an older type of lens that doesn't have any coating and isn't silicone based to see how it would fit and it still didn't work.

Now I'm nearly at my wit's end here and I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a similar problem and was able to fix it, so I could maybe discuss it with my doctor when I go back. I can't afford Lasik right now but god damnit I wish i could because I hate wearing glasses and I can't be distracted by the blurred vision at night, especially while riding. So any help would be great.

I actually did have a similar problem a few years back, and was told what the problem was too, but I basically stopped wearing contacts thereafter.

I was told what you were, that the lens is too small to cover the entire optic zone because the "base curve" of lens needs to be fitted to my eyes (I have astigmatism or some such) as my left eye is not normal shape. I did end up getting one pair just as backups and they worked fine too, but after that I never wore them again.

Yeah, they told me I have an Astigmatism in my left eye, but that they weren't going to correct it because it doesn't affect my prescription or vision or whatever. It's so damn annoying because it started only after I got a new prescription and changed lenses. I even tried going back to my old lenses to test with the new prescription and sure enough same problem. I'm starting to think it's the prescription strength causing the contacts to fit differently because of their power, but I really don't know. I'm hoping I can go there with just one suggestion to try and figure this out. The problem is actually corrected when I put my finger in my eye and shift the contact toward my nose. Problem is that's not where they sit on my eye so they move back over when I blink.

I have astigmatism in both of my eyes, so I have to use a special toric lense (I think that's what they're called?) Anyways, before using those lenses I had the same problem when I drove at night. For me, it fixed by blinking a few times really fast. The problem stopped once I started with the new toric lenses.

Toric? Ok I'll ask, do you remember why they put you on the Toric Lens? Is there something about it, probably corrects the astigmatism?

Yes, the toric lenses correct the astigmatism.

I also have an astigmatism in my left eye. As previously mentioned, talk to your doctor about getting contacts specically made to help people with this. If all else fails, you could try keeping a spare set of glasses in your car for night time driving.
