    heatsink + ram compatibility

So this is a rather specific question, but i couldn't think of a better place to post it. I'm using a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128412 with a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065 The fan on the heatsink hangs over the fourth ram slot I'm not sure how to figure out whether or not this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145261 will fit under my heatsink. If no one has an answer, is there any way to find out aside from trial and error?

Those heatsinks on the XMS3s aren't very big at all. I have the hyper tx3, it's the same style, but a bit smaller (92mm fan) and my XMS3s fit under it. Hope that helps a bit.

Also i'm not sure how much "quad channel" benefits over getting 2 - 2x2gb sets is but it's considerably cheaper.

i hadn't really put too much effort into looking at ram so far, those were just the shortest i had come across. I have no idea if there's a difference between what i posted and what you did. I was having a hard time finding ram without a large heatsink and got frustrated Q_Q

The ones you posted were a 8gb set, 4x2gb sticks. They are listed as "quad channel" i'm not sure if that does much, or anything at all. Someone more knowledgeable on that could chime in. The ones i posted are a 4gb set, 2x2gb sticks, and are much cheaper.

$5 less than newegg on amazon:

i am aware they're cheaper so thanks for the heads up, i was a bit confused when i saw the term "quad channel" myself. My question wasn't really about that set as much as how can i figure out what fits under my heatsink >.>
