Making an animated .gif.

I have no idea how to do this, and was wondering if anyone had a 'guide' of sorts they would like to type out or share.

Hopefully it involves free software, as I would prefer not to buy anything. Sorry if this is already a topic, thanks.

You can probably do it with GIMP, but I use Photoshop, takes like 2 seconds to make one. PS is free if you know how to go about it, and making animations with PS are all over Youtube.

if you want to create one out of a video file, kmplayer can export timed screenshots to frames from which you import through w/e program.

Convert to mp4 -> photoshop -> file -> import, video frames to layers -> choose frames, crop edit set timings etc etc -> save for web and devices -> realize it's 20mb -> go back and redo it with skipped frames and smaller size.

Oh, Window -> check Animation, too. Almost forgot that.
