Anybody have experience with good media players? I'm talking about things like the WD TV and Asus O!Play. I'll mainly be using it to watch TV shows or movies in the 350MB / 700 MB range, but also want mkv and srt subtitle support. After some research, I went up to Fry's to pick up a WD TV (to try) but then they only had previously-returned ones available (like 8 of them), and that alone made me a little wary, so I ended up not getting it. A lot of the reviews either say that everything works great, 5-stars, etc., or bad audio de-synch, randomly won't recognize files, bad upscaling, etc., so it's kind of hard to guess what my experience would be without actually getting one to try.
I'll mainly be playing off of an attached hard drive, so I don't really need streaming capabilities (I have PS3 and XBox 360 already). Almost everything I have will have to be upscaled.
I don't mind buying one to try, and returning if it doesn't work well, but thought I'd try to see if anybody has experience with them.
