Awesome, gotta love Colbert responding to "The Million Moderate March" with "The March to Keep Fear Alive", shame I wouldn't go to D.C. if you paid me.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Too bad I don't live anywhere near it. It's also too bad that loud idiots have a majority opinion in this country because of the media which results in the little guy trying to get the truth out (and often being unsuccessful, at least according to the loud ones).

I was already planning to go to the One Nation Working Together march on 2 October.. Don't think I can afford another trip down to DC in the same month heh.

Shit, DC is just a 2-3 hour drive or a couple hours on a train for me. I think I can make this.

I never quite understood why people feel the need to have marches/rallies in DC anyway. I mean if you want to find some activist pussy to pound that's one thing, but people are seriously deluding themselves if they think they can somehow make a difference. I mean shit, Obama can't even make a difference and that dude is president.

This idea is kind of fatally flawed, but I think it's intentionally designed that way. Many of the people who Jon Stewart's message appeals to will be too reasonable to drive 5 hours and attend a rally, so he'll be drawing only from the immediate area, probably Philly and Baltimore. No one legitimately believes in Colbert's message, but he is certain to be funny. People will probably drive from further away to see a free comedy show with Steven Colbert and Jon Stewart than they would for either of the "messages."

So, I predict this rally will be much less about political moderation and and much more about getting a free comedy show.

Also, people have things in Washington DC because:
    A) There are a lot of other cities within a day's drive.
    B) It's the capitol. If you want to say something political doing it in our political center makes sense.

I live just outside of Philly and am pretty interested in this, but... It's my birthday weekend, Halloween, and I'm kinds of crazy art school broke.

Pretty much it. But really the original march on DC was the Bonus Army in 1932 (might go back even earlier but this is earliest one I remember from AP US History), they got what they wanted in 1936 and got some WPA jobs in between. That led to more working man marches in the 1960s which led to the Civil Rights marches.

Nowadays its just been perverted and diluted but originally these marches got bidness taken care of.
