    Agarest Senki Zero

Prequel to the first game confirmed for NA/EU now
link to the first thread: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/888...of-Agarest-War

Great news! As the headline above reveals Ghostlight has finally
managed to sign the successor to the awesome JRPG innuendo-fest
that is Agarest: Generations of War on PS3!

That's right, you heard it here first: Agarest Senki Zero is
coming to the SCEE territories, courtesy of Ghostlight.

This time we're working even more closely in conjunction with Idea
Factory to ensure we deliver the best possible game to you, the
fans. In addition we're kind of co-opting the testing of the game
with the SCEA publisher, the highly respected Aksys Games. Not
only will this give us the benefit of Aksys' awesome translation
skills (yeah, theirs is better, we know!) but we'll also be effectively
doubling the test time the game receives and working to ensure
that any differences between the US and EU versions of the game
are as minimal as possible. Hopefully this means that you - the
customer - win, whichever side of the Atlantic you're on.

Currently, plans regarding a release date and EU pricing are not
finalised (heck, we've barely even started), but rest assured that
we'll be looking to provide you with the ultimate possible version of
Agarest SZ to whet your appetites for more vaguely inappropriate
Soul Breeding and more double entendres than you can shake a
floppy stick at (woops, did it again!).

We're also planning to bring out an oh-so special edition of the game
alongside the regular version, so stay tuned for more information
on that (and its saucy contents) as and when we have it.

Oh and YES, this time we will be supporting Trophies.

    JP Trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr4y48hDtGc

Agarest Senki Zero is set a few thousand years before the first
game but you’ll still be busy choosing your ideal partner in order to
make sure your next generation do better in their adventures. The
story takes place in Agarest, which has been peaceful thanks to the
balance in power between the Light and Dark forces. One day, an
army from the Dark forces crosses the border and the first
generation protagonist from the Light forces save a girl named
Mimeru while on duty. He then secure a special “power” from her.
The main goals of the first two generations were revealed; looking
for a key object to defeat your enemies in the first generation and
protecting it in the second generation. Find out more after the
    jump.

The Battles are the same as the first game, the maps, and the Soul
Breed System. Two new systems were introduced, The Feel Link
System and the Free Intention. There is also a Extra Mode.

    Feel Link
A new system is introduced called the Feel Link System. The Feel
Link system is where the heroine's costume, and dialog depend on
    their relationship level.

    Free Intention
Another new system, you can build your relationship with the
heroines. This may result in new costumes,CGs, and items. This is
    accessed by the City Menu.

    Extra Mode
If you have Clear Data from the first game you can load it and
when you begin the game (After progressing into the game to a
certain point) you will unlock the Door to the Future. After you
enter you will be in the first map of the first game and you will be
able to visit all the other maps as well. You will get items, and
characters. Leo, his descendants, the heroines,Ellis and Dyshana are
unlocked free. However other characters (Zerva,Winfeld,Vira
Lorr,Sharona, etc.) must be downloaded from the PlayStation
    Store.

What is this, a sequel to the game that wants to be an erogame but can't?

Was gameplay at least somewhat decent in the first? I never played it, since I was waiting for price drop before I tried it. Now seems like a good time to try out the first one if its pretty cheap now.

Gameplay was pretty weak. It always boiled down to having everyone do as much combo damage as they could in one team attack so you could kill something before it face raped you.

Last week, European publisher, Ghostlight, went ahead and
announced they were localizing Agarest Senki Zero in Europe and
made a reference to U.S. publisher Aksys’s localization skills in their
    press release.

Aksys handle Agarest in North America, and yes, they’re localizing
Agarest Senki Zero, too. While Ghostlight only announced plans to
publish the PS3 version of the game, Aksys will be publishing Record
of Agarest War Zero on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on
retail discs sometime in Summer 2011.

Localization editor, Ben Bateman, had this to say about the game in
    the official press release:

"The portraits during conversations are now animated, which is
nice, and the addition of a feature called, tentatively, ‘Free
Intention’ allows you to explore towns and meet with members of
your party, giving you more control over your relationship(s) with
the ladies. Speaking of the ladies, as they grow fonder of you their
clothes will change. Dressing like a nurse seems like an odd way to
show your affection to me, but I’m not a woman on an adventure
to save the world, so maybe I’m missing an important perspective.”

Record of Agarest War Zero introduces a card system with which
you can customize Sieghart’s skills. The Xbox 360 version in Japan
had extra content, which Aksys are including in the localized PS3
    build as well.

Didn't Agarest Senki 2 come out recently in Japan? I'm guessing that will be localized sometime in 2011. I liked the first one (played the one translated by Akys, heard horror stories about Ghostlight's version).

Oh, and if they're localizing it the way they did with the first Agarest game it'll be text only, meaning there will be only Japanese voice acting with the text in English. This was completely fine for me but I know a number of people can't stand playing games voiced in a foreign language so I figured I'd throw that out there as a precaution.

Continuing their strategy or releasing Xbox 360 ports a year later
with smidgens of extra content, Compile Heart re-released Record
of Agarest War Zero under the name Record of Agarest War Zero
    Dawn of War in July.

The Xbox 360 version in Japan of has an event gallery mode,
unreleased CG, a new costume, and a system where girls change
their outfits based on their feelings towards the main character.

In North America, both versions of Record of Agarest War Zero will
have the same content. "Idea Factory did pretty much the same
thing for Zero, with an enhanced release for the 360 called Dawn of
War," Aksys Editor Ben Bateman wrote in a comment, perhaps
dressed in cat suit. "We’re also doing the same thing we did before,
and releasing the enhanced version for both consoles."

So, that means you’ll get that bonus costume and event gallery on
the PlayStation 3 disc. That’s right Aksys is releasing Record of
Agarest War Zero on a Blu-ray disc this time.

So now that this is out and all, I don't suppose anyone has made some good combinations of cards during the character creation part by chance? I can't seem to figure out a good combo, or the system in general. I'm probably missing something obvious.

Google has failed me on the subject. If anyone has figured this card thing out or can direct to a site with the information, it'd be much appreciated.

I managed to create a warrior setup that was SSBCB, but I can't remember what cards I did off the top of my head. Lemme go back and see if I can remember.

I went with battle mage myself. couldn't seem to get anything above a B for INT/AGI though, settled on a BABBB build. Probably not the best, but it's what I went with and the best I found though. yesterday and today doing nothing but that card game or whatever you want to call it in the character creater I just didn't want to do it anymore XD

Wondering if this is better than the first one, even though I never played the first one, but would like to start out with this one instead if its better than the first. Also, how long was the first?
