City workers destroy a Ford Explorer trying to free a snowbound front-loader in Brooklyn Heights

NYC Sanitation Tow Truck Video: Tow Truck Tows Front End Loaders Hits SUV In Brooklyn Heights

There is a right way and a wrong way to tow a front end loader. Apparently, this video shows a New York City Sanitation Tow Truck, towing a Front End Loader - the only issue was the parked SUV got in the way.

First, one suspects New York City tow trucks are not used to working in the snow. Second, Front End Loaders in New York City are likely accustomed to dealing with mud and debris and not snow.

Result, Front End Loader that perhaps should have not gotten stuck is towed by a tow truck driver that is used to brute force.

I cant really believe that someone, let alone two people could be this retarded as to not stop and figure out a different way.

If the car had a gun it wouldn't have been towed in a war zone.

You know what's funny about that video? The Ford Explorer is actually a CITY vehicle. The woman yelling at them is the wife of the city employee who the vehicle was given to. So now the city has to replace the vehicle, then repair it, and also pay for the insurance costs for the family's corolla which also suffered damage when they crunched the explorer into it.

NPR ran a story last night that had mayors/governors properly declared a snow emergency early enough, cleanup crews wouldn't have to try to clean roads around stranded cars as such declarations restrict road travel. There would also be fewer suckers stranded at airports through the New Year. What a complete fuckup lol

This isn't even the first severe blizzard of the year for the northeast. How are they that badly prepared for them?

My street was plowed at 11:00PM last night for the first time, I wake up this morning and I see two more plows driving down the block, I have no idea how the hell they coordinated this cleanup but it was atrocious.

it's the absolute worst... public transport is such a sham here, I adore the subway and will defend it to the death like any good new yorker but god damn, ever since the first hike it feels like treason. and don't get me started on the state of transport to the airports, I had no clue how easy it could be until I went to university in Chicago after living here all my life. they have a nice subway line that goes directly to ohare, meanwhile we have basically nothing and no subway lines cross-town through the park above what, 42nd?

midtown is a mess, it's been days since the blizzard and still the drifts are piled high and there's a puddle of dirty run-off a foot deep and two feet out from every corner and crossing. it's hard to get into the subway at some stops and frankly dangerous since the stairs are coated in slush and ice and packed snow. I can't imagine what it's like in the boroughs, the city made clear during those summer blackouts that they don't give a fuck. I had to go to tkts yesterday and even in times square they have the snow piled in icy mountains by the sidewalks, six, seven feet tall with little tourist children climbing on it like a fucking jungle gym

I sound like the cranky bitchy west sider I am but fuck, with the insane taxes we pay you'd think we could get a little civic service and plowed streets DAYS after the storm...

It's running out of money so we're going to get taxed out the ass for it shortly(moreso than usual), but Chicago public transport is the best anywhere.

This was the 6th worst storm in the city's history so it's not like this is a common occurrence. But last year we had some decent snow fall, not historic but decent, and the city was slow last year. This is just kind of a carry over from last year. On average no amount of snow closes anything down really.
