    Version Update Announcement (06/09/2011)

    The next version update for FINAL FANTASY XI is currently on track for a mid-July release!

    This update will focus primarily on job adjustments. Refinements to Voidwatch and other content, and usability improvements are also in the works.

    Further details will be announced in the Updates section of the official forums as they become available, so stay tuned!




    Hmm, a month to the next update and they already seem to have let us know what's coming with those notes. i guess the schedule was subject to change XD

    I wonder if this pushes the major update back a month as well or we'll be getting the mini update in July and still the major in August.

    The mini update was scheduled for June, and is now pushed back to July. Although, we can't really complain TOO much, seeing as how they've already pretty much given us half of this mini update already through those mini-mini updates that came before the mini update. (But if they already did pretty much half of it, why is the rest getting pushed back? eh)

    Might be possible they are moving some of the aug stuff to july, because what was left of June's is pretty much done.

    As much as I doubt we're getting another full fledged version update this soon, it certainly would be nice. And rereading the original post, it doesn't refer to this one as a mini update like the last one that was teased did.

    At first, I thought they were just listing stuff from the mini update (enhanced playability, job adjustments, etc)

    The main thing that they don't list is updates to voidwatch, but that could just be fixing/adjusting rather than adding on to it.

    There is no mention of the level cap, which is the biggest thing for the "August" patch, but the "Voidwatch and other content" could mean all the stuff under ingame systems.

    I don't know. Could SE actually be moving the update up from August to Mid July? (I'm still used to the old dev team...)

    That's why I made the assumption of them moving the schedule around since Voidwatch wasn't suppose to be this update. Although that NM in the picture I believe is the current tier of Voidwatch, so wouldn't make sense to be the next tier.

    That's the Dangruf Wadi Tier4NM, still shown in the same area. So.. it might just be an adjustment instead of new content? idk

    An option to put the loot you get from VNM crate into the pool would be very nice.

    Kinda sucks to do T4 only to have someone who doesn't need the big ticket item be the only one to get it. Not sure how that slipped past the Devs to be honest... freudian slip?

    Thats kinda why I never bothered getting into VNM...pre-determined loot destination is dumb, beyond dumb, atleast for EX stuff. Imagine if Ridill / D.Ring / E.Bd was like that.

    It's SE kneejerk to years of the opposite where loot goes into a pool then the leaders carve shit up and throw the scraps to the members.

    Makes sense in theory but really nothing short of more drops is going to make VWNMs work. If you don't get a big ticket item right now, you wind up with crap like Iron Ores. Thanks SE, you shouldn't have.

    Give me a point system already. Kill something enough and you can turn in your voidpoints for drops.

    This is my least favorite aspect of Voidwatch NM. As a SH leading these events, I essentially ask people to trade the non-rare/ex drops to me to lot for DKP (while giving them credit since they likely expended Cruor to get the drop). As for rare/ex drops, I see WHY they did it this way, but yes, it's idiotic for Mextli Harnesses to end up on mages or Ganesha Masks to end up on non-MNKs just because of pre-determined loot destination. So many other events add a "Add spoils to loot pool" that it wouldn't be hard to do so here too.

    Kneejerk is probably right, but I don't see the problem with keeping it as it is by default and allowing for an option to put whatever you loot you personally get into the pool if you don't need it.
