BG SC2 Tournament attempt #3, 2v2 Edition

I'm planning on hosting a 2v2 tournament on 5/13/11 (it's a friday, lul). If you wish to sign up, just post here. The tournament will last only one day, so if you are not available to play for at least 6-8 hours on the day, then please don't sign up.

Rules are as follows:

2v2 (dur)
Double elimination
Best of one game

Because of the limited amount of time I want to run this tournament in, there will only be one game played between each team. However, as it is double elimination, you can still come back and win this. This also gives everyone the time to observe the matches and prepare ahead of time to compensate for the lack of games in a match.

Sign in at the designated time on the day of the tournament. We will be playing one game at at time, and on the day of I'll post in game or on forum the brackets. If you aren't currently playing a match you can go do whatever (lunch, shower, sex, etc), but come time for your match if your team isn't ready to go in 10min you will be disqualified.

I'm hoping to get 8-10 teams in on this. As long as it doesn't get any bigger then that then we should be able to play the tournament in 6-8 hours imo. On the day of, I'll be starting the tournament at 3pm est. If any one requests a later starting time, I might be able to accommodate. Just let me know.

Because of the small amount of teams and time we'll be playing this tournament, I will not be splitting the tournament up in sections separating rank. As much as I'd like to, I'd rather see the tournament played and completed, rather then adding different divisions to suit the broad range of player skill we have on the forum. Don't fret though, if you don't think you have what it takes to win then at the very least you will learn a lot of new things.

Hm, I'm not really too big a fan of 2v2ing (I like them, but they piss me off lol). I do 2v2 with a rl friend pretty often, but he's gold so there's a bit of a skill difference, and it's sometimes kinda frustrating.

Anyone want to make a 2v2 team with me?

(if I can get a good team going I mat consider joining this. I'm on summer right now so as long as we're not going past 11pm EST ish, I'm good (I play like shit when I'm tired))

Yea not too sure sure you'll get positive response from going 2v2...

-Terran: make them pop 4 barrack, set rally point, win. (doing this with another terran dropped me right into diamond, going 5-0)

That's a big IF. In a game with 2 terran you never met before walled off and away from CC barracks, you get 15ish marines in your base at 5 min mark

2v2s interest me more than 1v1s do but FFFFF at missing events (yes I still play XI, fuck off) so I can't make it.

This is the 4th tournament attempt btw! First one by Syntex was like this (all the match in one day), and only 4-5 of us showed up.


I think the only way to plan a tournament is to have a 1millions $ reward...people might show up!

Well we could all chip in 5$ each and give like 50% first place 30% second 20% third (Each league between themselves to keep it fair)

Got event on saturday? I hear a lot of people say theyre more interested in 2v2 then 1v1, and i enjoy it more myself as well. I actually do want to get into cash prizes for these. Tournies, but i think we need to take baby steps lol. Lets actually finish a tournament first, then get to the cool stuff.

On a serious note, I really would like a 2v2 partner who is pretty serious, like getting vent or something running so we can talk and stuff, even if it's just ladder and unrelated to the tournament.

I know a few people who'd be interested, but they're silver/gold level. Your friend is gold and you get frustrated with him at times, so I doubt you'd like them very much, even though they do use vent and actually try in the game.

Sonomaa, I'll do left2die with you whenever you're on. It's so fun but no one ever wants to play it with me, and if I random it I always get paired up with idiots.

If by sunday we don't have at least 7 or 8 teams signed up I'm going to put this up on z33k to fill the last spots.

I have this edited version called enhanced that adds in the rest of the ground units and basically triples the amount of attackers which scales up exponentially by round. if you havent beaten it by the 10th or so night and dont have a super crazy defense you cant win
