San Diego boy throwing rocks hit by crossbow



SAN DIEGO (AP) -- San Diego police say a 16-year-old boy throwing rocks at a sport utility vehicle was struck by a crossbow arrow fired by a passenger.

Police say the shirtless boy and a friend were throwing rocks at a black Toyota RAV4 in the Linda Vista neighborhood Monday afternoon when a passenger fired a crossbow out the window.

The boy was shot in the right side and was taken to a hospital. The San Diego Union-Tribune says his injuries are not life-threatening.

His name wasn't released.

Nobody has been arrested.

SAN DIEGO — A boy was shot in the abdomen by a crossbow bolt Monday after he and another boy were throwing rocks at a passing car in Linda Vista, San Diego police said.

A passenger in a black Toyota RAV4 pulled out a crossbow and fired one bolt before driving away around 2:15 p.m. on Linda Vista Road near Mesa College Drive, said police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The two people in the car were described as Latino males and most likely juveniles. Ages were not released for the boys who had been throwing rocks.

The boy who was shot was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital and suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening, Delimitros said.

There's a low income neighbourhood in my city where this happens as well. The people doing this are literally too dumb to understand that it's going to have negative consequences, and their parents provide blank stares when spoken to. Pisses me the fuck off.

Thank god they don't have cross bows or many guns in NJ. We used to routinely through rocks, handfulls of acorns, batteries, tomato's, and basically whatever we could get our hands on at cars as kids. Remember running for my life from angry motorists on more than 1 occasion.
