Holy shit what's going on w/ my internet??!

ok so during my last few SSF4 matches in the past couple days, my lag has been horrendous, and i'm suspecting it wasn't the other people when 10/10 matches were lagging bad. So i decided to run a pingtest.net test...

    http://www.pingtest.net/result/46609686.png

i can't post speedtest.net because my upstream gets stuck on connecting... but my usual down/up connection is 22Mbps/3.5Mbps. I know speed doesn't have to do much with gaming as much as packet loss and jitter, but i decided to post that just incase.

So i got to thinking to myself, how the fuck am i supposed to be playing under these conditions? I have comcast (fucking lame as shit) and well... I did a direct connection to my PC from the modem and i now know it isn't the router, could this actually be caused by my modem or is it just comcast being gay as fuck and i would have to call them to test my shitty connection? I'm really hoping it would be caused by my modem so i can just get rid of it and get another one.

Also just to add i'm running a powered cable splitter to not get any interruption in my connection.

A few years back I used to have a lot of connection problems like yours as well as my cable boxes taking a LONG ass time tuning to an HD channel, some HD channels didn't work at all. It turned out the box out on the street was heavily corroded (was a very rainy season.) They replaced it and it worked perfectly.
There's been a lot of rain all along the east coast lately.... perhaps you're experiencing same problem I had?

Yeah... 9% packet loss is definitely bad. Wow no wonder you're getting so much lag in SSF4.

fwiw, the last two times I had a Comcast tech come out they did a shockingly good job. They checked inside the house the first time and found that some idiot(previous Comcast guy but well before we moved in here) used an existing satellite splitter instead of an actual cable one when they re-wired the place for cable instead of sat, then the 2nd visit they found weather damage on the main box outside and completely re-wired shit, my connection has been fantastic since.

That's why i'mma wait for the tech to come by, comcast told me there really is something up w/ my signal. I have internet np, just can't do gaming for shit til this gets fixed. If anything i may just need to keep my old modem. Weird tho the new modem temporarily fixed the issue then it went out again and took a shit and i couldn't reconnect. Old modem gives me the lag issues, new modem didn't when it worked.

Hopefully if this all resolves i'll just return the new modem and stick w/ what i have.
