    Modified Memory sucking up RAM...

I run Win7 and lately I've noticed my systems modified memory has been slowly bloating to the point where I have started getting errors. A reboot fixes it temporarily, but after a few days it's back.

Spoilered is a pic of my current status. PC has been on for about 30 hours since last reboot.

I've tried searching and saw mention of BIOS tweaking (hence my last reboot), but my system didn't seem to have it. Done virus scans just in case something might've snuck in on me, but I seem clean. Wondering if it's at all related to Firefox, but closing it doesn't seem to free up the memory nor does task manager rarely show anything above 200k with 4-5 tabs going.

Just had Windows spit the low memory error at me again. Seems like my CPU usage has been kinda high relative to what I'm usually running, too. Just with AIM, Firefox, an FTP client, Task Manager, and a MU* client I'm floating around 50% use. PC uptime is just shy of 4 days now.

download and run memtest86, do a full scan just to make sure there's nothing physically wrong with your ram. passing that means its some application in windows (probably AIM) pooping about and not cleaning up after itself, and you'll want to start killing processes to figure out which it is

Did some tests between the two posts with various things. Of searching I've done, the biggest culprit is likely the Windows Media Network Sharing Service, which I believe I turned on when I got my 360 to try sharing things between it and my PC. Turned it off, so seeing if that'll affect things in the long term. As is, uptime is a little over 6 hours now and Modified Memory hasn't crept past 300mb.

hey man i have this same/similar problem , my rig has been up now id say around 240 hours, i have 4.2GB modified ram, the only differance is... mine doesnt creep up it jumped striaght from around 200mb right up to 4.2GB , ive killed a few suspect processes but only managed to get it back down to 3.2GB , i know its not my hardware as being an overclocker i regularly test my hardware for stability and errors.
please let me know if you have any ideas,
