    Boingo wireless

I was at the airport the other day and couldn't find my ride at all, and since I don't have a phone, I had to buy a day worth of Boingo internet at the airport so I could contact them and make sure I had the right meeting spot.

It was $6.95, which is fine. I made sure to only get the day pass, not a week or month one. 2 days later, I get charged an additional $7.95 to my account from them. I go back to their site to try to sign in to the user name I made and I'm unable to do so (was gonna try to cancel from there).

    Payments were made through paypal.

What do I say on the dispute to get my money back for the second transaction and what do I do to prevent them from charging me in the future?

PayPal is who you will contact. Tell them the day you paid and what happened. PayPal will side with you(99%of the time they side with the buyer I know this all to well as a ex merchant user of theirs.

Open the ticket and wait for an answer. Might take a few weeks but odds are their PayPal account will have new funs(maybe even past funds) frozen. And they will comply. Or never see their money again..

As to what you should say, that is simple. Just tell them you paid for a one day pass and they keep charging you. Give them then extra days you have been charged and odds are you will get everything back.

Put down a claim with Paypal.

How do I prevent these guys from trying to bill me again in the future? Since my log in no longer exists, I can't even cancel (provided they signed me up for some continuous service)

I'll give them a call tomorrow (Visiting someone's house today don't think it'd be cool to use their phone for something that could possibly put me on hold for a while lol), but checking google, seems they do this to a lot of people, so I'm pretty sure it's not an accident, lol

Yea, got an email back from Boingo, some bs policy that I connected from 2 diff airports and that my 24 hours didn't carry over from one to another (even though there was no confirmation screen or anything and my account was still logged in from the other airport, it connected me automatically to the network and put me on the net, etc.)

That being said, just gonna let paypal take care of it and if they decide I don't need my money back oh well, but if I do, fuck Boingo lol

You will get your money back... Might even tell you to blow the airport up so you can't use it ever again.

Fyi cs. Get a Google voice number. You can make free calls in the USA from your laptop if you have Internet

Only way to cancel Boingo is to call them.

I'm surprised free Internet isn't more common. Hell, even small-as-fuck Chattanooga Airport has free Internet.

I've never ever used Boingo, it's expensive as fuck and not even fast.

lol, it seems paypal acknowledged it as an authorized transaction, but still decided to give me my money back.

    Thank you for contacting PayPal.

We’ve finished our investigation of your dispute.

This payment is an authorized transaction of a billing agreement.

We have issued a refund of the payment. The credit will post to your PayPal
account balance unless you used a credit card to make the payment, then
credit will post to your credit card.

Because this payment is the result of a billing agreement was set up, you
should contact the merchant to make sure your account, with them, is secure.

Thank you for being part of the PayPal community.
    You're quite welcome, PayPal

    Boingo Wireless

Before anyone should place the blame on any company they should read the plan they selected before entering cc details. At every location Boingo offers they give several choices in plans. Many people do not take the time to read the plans because they are in such a hurry to get online. They see 24 hours and thing great I'm travelling today so that would work for that great price and just stop reading at that point. Same thing for monthly accounts. People see the price and see the word month but do not continue to read the plan, which is only 3 sentences long to find that it does state very clearly that it is reoccurring. Many people want to place the blame on the companies because they don't want to admit that they did not read before they put in their cc details and now they want the company to pay for their mistake. Below is a copy of the plan stated as AsYouGo:

Enjoy 24 hours of Wi-Fi access on this device at this hotspot for $7.95. Plus, use your Boingo account to stay connected at hundreds of thousands of hotspots worldwide; prices vary by location.

There are some locations in the states that offer the same plan but for $6.95. So after reading those 2 sentences and the very first one states "On this device" at "This location" how to people get they can use it anywhere for $7.95. Its simple they see the first 6 words and quit reading. So don't blame companies for lack of reading. If you don't believe me that they put that exact wordage on the main page of putting in your cc details then on your internet page open a new tab and go to boingohotspot dot net It will ask you to choose your site. This site only works for locations Boingo actually owns and operates and not partnered locations. Select where ever you were. If it was Chicago O'Hare then Choose ORD. It is going to say it is unsecure but that is because you are viewing their site without actually being at the location, so continue anyway. Next page skip the welcome screen and you will be at the main page for that Airport where you will see the plan options on the left. Choose the one that says Boingo AsYouGo and Read the plan at the top and down below will be where you would enter your account information.

    Go Ahead

I heard others talking about Boingo in the airport so yeah I googled to see what all the hype was about as I have not have but a few minor tech problems which isnt unusual for any company. You wanna think I work for boingo go ahead but saying false things about any one is just plain wrong and if people didnt already know they information they do now. Maybe posting to threads about how others shouldnt talk about stuff they dont know or only be one sided. Besides I am sure that Boingo has a policy about reps or tech people posting anything about their company. Im sure they have special computers generated responses and people to manage their social media requests or fraud accusations.

    Re: Boingo wireless

I heard the CEO of boingo raped and murdered a young girl. So far boingo has not denied it.

How well does your job pay? Do you also make those "(insert scam here) isn't a scam! I cured cancer and made millions!" sites that dominate Google results, or is that a different department?

but the site clearly doesn't define hotspot, so how was I to know that one hotspot couldn't be shared by two different air ports? They should add the definition of hotspot to avoid this sort of complication in the future
