Sup nigs. I got a quick pet question. My girlfriend and I are living in a 3 story townhouse with one roommate. We currently have an 8 month old cat named Dudley who is dope as shit. He likes to play a lot and is a little bit of a biter. My girlfriend wants to get another cat but I think his personality is cool enough to be with a dog.
Originally, I wanted to get a pit bull puppy that we could raise alongside our cat Dudley, but my girlfriends parents (who are huge dog lovers) absolutely detest the breed. Apparently her aunt's neighbor had a pit and he killed their house cat who was accidentally let outside.
We've been looking around on a lot of adoption sites and I've sort of fallen for this grown Black Lab/Terrier mix. She's got a brindle coat which looks dope as all hell and the owners say she's very affectionate and likes to play.
My main question is whether or not it would be easier on my cat to adopt a fully grown dog vs a puppy he can grow with. Dudley is very friendly and loves to play fight, which means I'd like to find a dog who isn't TOO big, but likes to horse around. I am not in the market for a tiny bitch dog either, but I don't want anything that would be too big and accidentally hurt the cat.
Does anyone have any suggestions which breed of dog would fit our situation? I'd prefer something with a short coat because I live in south florida, and it gets hot down here. Any advice would be appreciated.
