Getting updated FFXI without an active account

Hi,

I'm trying to use AltanaView to model some characters for various reasons, but I don't have an active FFXI account at the moment and a ton of the necessary .dat files are missing. I tried logging into my old XI account and starting up XI (since, as I recall, you can start and update FFXI without having a character, but I guess that's changed, because I can't now without an active Content ID).

Does anyone know a way around this? Specifically right now I'm only looking for the Dark Staff .dat file, which, on AltanaView says it is located at ROM/127/33.dat; I'm missing the entire folder.

Can someone help me out getting the necessary files installed, or if not, maybe send me the .dat file just for the dark staff?

EDIT: According to my AltanaView, the Dark Staff .dat is located at ROM\127\33.dat.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think forcing a file repair by editing a dat file name will download new files from the server. Worth a try if you didn't find a way around yet, just go to file check on POL after and make sure you select FFXI.
