I really want to watch this. Big Stephen Merchant fan and a big plus not having to deal with Ricky Gervais
I like some of his stuff, love the Ricky Gervais show (both animated and podcasts), but following him on twitter has made me very tiresome of him. I haven't watched Derek at all, heard a lot of mixed reviews about it.
he can definitely be a bit hit or miss/grating
I agree. And Stephen Merchant is awesome! But it's always been Stephen Merchant WITH Ricky Gervais (from everything I've seen so far). It'll be a nice change up is what I was mainly going for.
It's really bothering me that you keep spelling his name wrong (Gervais)...but yeah, I am also very excited for that AND "The Mourning Of Life" with Karl Pilkington![]()

Anyone watch the first episode? I loved it. The club scene was incredibly awkward lol
It brought feelings back of striking out and being awkward when I was younger. It was hard to watch but was pretty funny.
I agree, I actually had to pause a couple of times during the whole club scene...so cringeworthy. But I'm very much looking forward to the next episode!
Finally had a chance to watch this. agree that it is difficult to watch at some points but at others it is just hilarious
The second episode was just as good. The scene when he gets back into the limo with the gorgeous girls and starts ignoring the tourist, I had to actually pause the show for like 5 seconds to stop cringing a little lol. Not to mention all the shit with the limo outside of the club
OH SNAP, that one guy the tall brit works with is the guy from those hilarious, awkward, interview videos on youtube! Love this show.
thats kyle mooney. he's also one of the new featured players on SNL, and in the xfinity commercial with mindy kaling, AND in the taco bell commercial for ps4. before last week i only knew him from this video
im like wtf is strong guys doing all over the tv now
The newest Episode has to be the most awkward thing I have ever seen on Television. Spent the first half laughing and the other half cringing and closing my eyes at the desperate awkwardness of it all. Such a good show but incredibly difficult to watch at times. It's like a train wreck, you know what's going to happen but you just can't look away.
I really don't think it's that good. Merchant is fine, but the writing is pretty bad outside of his character and the lead actress/his tenant is terrible and her plot is terrible and pretty much just all around terrible. I treat the show like LoTR and skip any scenes where it's just her, kind of like Frodo/fatass scenes.
