I dont really know about all of this.. It's to be expected, and I dont doubt that Nintendo has the ingenuity for mobile.. I just hope it doesnt turn everything to shit.
Nintendo is taking a 10% stake in DeNA. That's a little interesting.
I would think this would produce titles more along the line of Pokémon Shuffle and Mario Tipping Stars than full blown Zelda or Mario titles. I have a hard time seeing this as a loss. Nintendo gets mobile coverage to appease shareholders while their console presence with main titles remains intact.
NX sounds more like a 3DS successor and maybe the first part of "Fusion" rather than a new home console.
So, is this the official Nintedno NX thread?
I was hoping it'd be the official "doom and gloom" thread but then I suppose the BRP rule would ban everyone who walked in.
I think the new console is actually called Nintendo X.

Also, after the DeNA announcement, Nintendo's stock jumped big time.

I dont see this announcement as a bad thing, actually its a very smart move. More power to them and an oppurtunity to win casual/new/younger players over to nintendo franchises for their home consoles/handhelds. One doesnt exclude the other.
DeNA hopes the deal will bring in more than ¥3 billion / $25 million a month, Profit Split Rumored to be 30% (DeNA) / 70% (Nintendo)

Might need/want a dedicated NX thread soon. I have a feeling somethings going to drop at E3.
A proper Android console sounds appealing.
Gematsu's translation is Core OS.
http://gematsu.com/2015/06/nikkei-ni...nx-run-androidNintendo hardware generally runs on its own proprietary operating system. Nintendo changing to that of an external company like Google would be a major shift for the console manufacturer.
Nikkei, citing “authorized people,” says that with Android, Nintendo is inviting all developers to create software for the platform, and software that can also be released on tablets and smartphones.
The report adds that Nintendo’s latest console, Wii U, backfired due to its high development costs, incompatibility with other consoles, and difficulty to make a profit unless a game was developed exclusively for the platform.
I'm pretty sure Nintendo confirmed that there would be no talk of the NX at this years E3. Plans change, but afaik that's still true.

WE all know it's gonna be called MarioOS
Edit: Posted to the actual NX thread, because im a silly goose.
I knew there was an NX thread somewhere. Must have glazed over it when I looked.
2nd Mobile title to feature a Major character from one of their Iconic IP's
Spoiler: showhttp://www.wsj.com/articles/nintendo...ter-1454397802 (if you don't have a sub to view the full article, open the spoiler above)Videogame giant Nintendo on Tuesday posted a sharp drop in quarterly net profit, but it stoked the hopes of fans by promising that its second smartphone game would feature one of the company’s best-known characters.
The company declined to say which of its franchises — which include Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong — would star in the coming mobile offering, but the news gave gamers something to chew on as they await the release of Nintendo’s first mobile app, Miitomo.
Nintendo said it would begin prelaunch registration for Miitomo soon, but didn’t specify a date. When the company unveiled Miitomo in October, it disappointed investors and gamers, because it appeared to be more like a social-networking or messaging app than a traditional videogame.
“The second game won’t be another communication app, and we plan to adopt one of our characters that fans are very familiar with,” Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima said.
Much is riding on Nintendo’s foray into mobile games, which have accounted for the bulk of the videogame industry’s growth in recent years, as the company’s traditional console game business struggles.
