G4 is going less geek, more chic.
The NBCUniversal-owned cabler is undergoing a rebranding, according to sources, that could involve a name change and take G4 in a direction reminiscent of GQ, the magazine for the "modern male" whose interests span beyond the dorm room or messy bachelor pad. The guy-centric net is mulling a more sophisticated look while remaining true to its tech and vid game roots. Brand refresh aims to bow in early 2013.

DirectTV dropped them 2 years ago so yes it is a miracle they've survived even this long. I doubt those who could still watch G4 bothered to tune in unless it was ComicCon or E3 time.

I watch the occasional Cheaters or Ninja Warrior in the morning/afternoons when I'm extremely bored. Other than that the channel is dead except for, like you said, ComicCon or E3.

Meh...I kind of enjoy American Ninja Warrior since the original Japanese competition is on hiatus, but I watch a stream of the Japanese competition as it airs there anyway, it's way better than G4's edit of it. (way more runs shown, way less commercials).

Beyond that, I don't know how that channel has lasted this long anyway.

American Ninja Warrior ruined Ninja Warrior for me. Turning it into some reality show bullshit was just retarded. Don't need 12 episodes watching them train and then when they finally show the Ninja Warrior event, they barely even showed the Japanese competing anymore. So retarded. I wanted this channel to just die off after they've been getting worse and worse each time I see anything from it.

The best thing they even have left is their E3 coverage, but I can just get much better coverage online now, so, who cares.

If you go to http://sasukemaniac.proboards.com/index.cgi they stream the Japanese airing. It's a three hour block, far less commercials and filler, more runs being shown, all around 100 times better than G4. The only problems; it's on hiatus while the company recovers from bankruptcy, and it only airs once, usually around 5am on a Monday, twice a year.

Unscrewed with Martin Sargent > AotS. But AotS was pretty good in the beginning and then it just turned into absolute garbage.

Robot Wars was also amazing.

As for G4 shows...

G4tv.com was pretty cool, as well as fucking Arena. My god Arena was awesome and I have absolutely no idea why they scrapped such a great show.

X-Play's quality went down as Morgan Webb's attractiveness went up (she's not THAT attractive but definitely better than when X-Play started).
