BLM/WHM intimidating a cactuar?

So I was trying to pop the kung fu shoes NM, and several times when I engaged with my staff to finish of the last 2-3% of a PH, I'd intimidate it.

I couldn't think of any of my gear that'd do that, it was as follows:

Jupiter's staff
Wizard's petasos
Uggy pendant
Z.mitts
Sweet sachet
Weskit
Mahatma slops
Merciful cape
Herald's Gaiters
Rairin obi
Moldavite earring/Static earring
Tamas ring/Snow ring

(Yeah I hadn't put on proper nuking gear)

The only thing I can think of was maybe having cactuar needles/arms in my inventory?

Rich? On Fenrir they're like 30k a stack now lol. A stack lasts ages, considering Wizard has enhanced duration. Even when it was 60k, that was incredibly cheap for 99 cookies...

If you think this is bad I posted on FFXIclopedia that my Blue Mage was able to get Defense Boost with a certain set of spells at 22 when it's only possible to get it at 40.
