Thanks to a hot tip from a moogle, I've discovered a sequel to the onlin FF XI is being made for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. But expect the game to take place not in FF XIs Vana'deil but a world from a previous Final Fantasy game. Our fanboy hopes FFVII, but our practical mind says FFXII.

I dunno if I'd play annother online FF or not.

But it sure is amazing to me the number of people that keep playing ffxi and yet go "With how horrible this game I've spent hundreds of days playing, and continue to play is, no way would I consider another."

Don't think there were any games but he said buy sequels, not play them, which means Advent Children is included.

As tempting as it would be to play another FF MMO that entails that I'd have to play another MMO run by SE. During my recent hiatus I've decided to give FFXI a look without the love goggles and realize the game is great and potentially better, but SE is lazy. There are problems they could fix but refuse to. They listen to morons on Alla while ignoring the endgame playerbase. They are trying to make a decidedly non-casual game more casual friendly even though the ship has already sailed. They make endless excuses (windower=haxorz ohnoes... can't have that... PS2 rimitations) for not improving small things in the game and break shit when they try to fix it (Ulli?). On top of this, racism creeps in here and there.

They need to learn progression, reward/effort and that challenge =/= time sink. Instead of making shit impossible to get to string us along for as long as possible, they could actually just add content that would make us want to play. Any time anyone makes progress they nerf progress (hi2u AV) and keep us from managing to get all the game has too offer because they are too lazy to come up with new content. Small decisions like making Salvage cost IS (which everyone has a ton of and has no use) instead of AP (which has another use and is more difficult to acquire in large amounts).

I think I'll pass on the next SE MMO and see what the rest of the world has to offer instead.

MMORPG's don't work that way, though it'd be nice if you could use the same account + costs, so it'd just be another $1.00 per extra character regardless of game.

I'm highly skeptical about any rumors like this that may only be about something in the planning stages, but suppose it were true, they'd have to go in a completely different direction than FFXI to convince me to even consider trying it.

They say that while still playing FFXI and also spending 90% of their game time in WoW.

Would I play another SE MMORPG? Sure. I'll wait 5 years after it's out though, then there will be enough content with their 1.5 expansions to keep me busy for 2 months.

If you like spending forever grinding XP, there's a korean MMORPG out there for you. If you like endgame content and things to do, WoW is already well ahead of FFXI and it has a working PvP as well. I'm not a big fan of WoW, but at least they have more than 1 part-time programmer doing everything.
