This is being blown out of proportion. Some asshole lied during skin check (before a tournament in minnesota your examined for skin rashes) if you have one you have to provide a doctors note that says it's not contagous or you sit out. someone decided to forge and now everyone in america thinks our wrestlers are goin extra curicular.

Yep, as Slusher said... Most wrestling teams are really careful about that stuff for a reason, because it can happen pretty easily when you're wrestling. Before every practice/match we'd normally have to cover exposed skin in this disinfecting foam to prevent that kind of thing.

It just looks like someone BSed or just was an idiot and caused an outbreak.

no only people with HSV1 or HSV2 get cold sores, the thing about herpes is that it does a thing called asymptomatic shedding, which means even when you have no visible outbreak you can infect someone else.

it is weakness of the immune system (caused by stress or illness) that allows HSV1/2 to move outside of the nervous system and show symptoms on the skin.

and incidentally HSV can infect anywhere on the body, it's normally seen around the mouth and genitals because that is where people touch the most.

the wiki article is very interesting especially because herpes can cause encephalitis (swelling of the brain) leading to death, it's rare but the disease is extremely common so basically anyone could kill you with a touch ;D
